"What I gave Laura was punishment for not following my directions. What you are asking for is a second chance. I don't do second chances." Ivy filled her tea cup and took a sip before adding, "Besides, you are the last person on earth who needs a Hexing book." That sounded... dangerous.
Ivy was about to make Alexa leave when, suddenly.... she had a fabulous idea. She cleared her throat and leaned her arms on her desk. "However, there may be something you can do for me... That might, somehow, raise your grade..." Something that involved colorful, shiny, jewels...
Obviously. Pfft. Admitting to failure wasn't something Alexa did often and the woman was rubbing it in. She fought the scowl that wanted some room on her face and instead opted for a small, HUMBLE (lookit, you see that? Humble because she was trying) smile. This needed to end quickly. She wasn't adapted for situation such as this one.
She blinked a few times at her answer.
No--and what did she mean by THAT?? There was nothing wrong with her getting a hexing book, those were her favourite kind, the
only kind she'd read. Everyone was telling her she needed to start reading and she finally does then they have a problem with it. She puffed out a cheek, willing herself not to argue back at the giving no second chances or the no book talk. Though really she might as well, the answer was already no.
Lex stood perfectly still, getting ready to stare at her until she reconsidered or until she kicked her out but then the woman spoke. It wasn't so much
what she said, but
how she said it that had Lex's eyebrow raise suspiciously.
"What's that?" If she sounded like she wasn't so eager to know, it was because
she wasn't. "And when you say raise my grade, you mean so I get a full marks???" This was probably negotiable. She would let herself think she still had the upper hand.
