She loved this time of day. It really made all pictures look extra pretty and the leaves on trees looked like gold. The grasses were extra heavenly too. She glanced at her school shoes, which were mostly definitely comfortable, and wondered if they'd be playing ina wheat field or something, since those always looked really beautiful at this time of day. But this was astronomy, and she wasn't really sure what that would have to do with it.

Her eyes lit up at this first and very imporant question, because yes. Yes she did want ice cream. She shot her hand up in the air and waved it like she just don't care. "Oo! I do, Professor! I love ice cream! It's so great and there are so many kinds! You can never run out of flavors because ice cream can be ANY flavor, kind of like a Bertie Bott's Ever Flavour Beans except better because it's so cold and sugary and you can put toppings on it!!" She was nearly on the edge of her seat with anticipation.

And that was the end of that ice cream discussion. He was just curious who else felt like having some because he was practically drooling at the mouth right now. Oh, but someone had asked him about his favorite ice cream. "My favorite flavor would have to be Lunar Cheesecake. The muggle ice cream company Baskin Robins introduced the flavor to commemorate landing on the moon by Apollo 11."

True story.

"Last lesson we discussed Polaris, which sadly has little to do with ice cream other than there SHOULD be an ice cream flavor named after the star." Hmmm...he had thoughts about this. "More importantly, ish, we discussed how Polaris, our current North Star, remains stationary in the night sky and all other stars and celestial bodies rotate around it. This is due to the earth's spin and Polaris' location being very close to the north celestial pole of the earth's axis. This makes it the ideal point of reference for navigational purposes." And that about got them caught up. "We will continue our discussion of Polaris a bit more this lesson along with a sort of field trip." Just not to the kitchens. He wasn't really sure that the activity counted as a field trip, but they WOULD be out of the classroom, so close enough.

Tapping his wand on the blackboard, the professor removed the Disillusionment Charm he had placed on a portrait.

"Now, can anyone tell me who this gentleman is?"

But...but.... Well that was just plain MEAN, she thought, a bit disgruntled. But not for long, because Airey just had that effect on people. It might've had something to do with his general bounciness too.

She took a long look at the photograph and not really having much of an idea other than it was most likely an astronomer, she raised her hand to guess. "Is it Cassini, Professor?" She thought she'd heard that name somewhere before, but she wasn't totally sure.

SPOILER!!: Airey!

He is also the first to discover infrared radiation and has 24 outstanding symphonies that I suggest you all listen to. Especially for those of you who will be studying for your OWLs and NEWTs. Helped me out quite a bit when I was a studying student." Just so they all knew.

"Now, Miss Phillips touched on something very important and relevant to our discussion of Polaris. Can anyone tell me what discovery Herschel made in regards to it?"

Oh, okay, so she was wrong about who it was. But that was all right because she had known it was just a shot in the dark anyway. She was terrible with remembering faces. Especially faces of those she'd never met and had only seen in a photograph from a long, long, long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

Okay so...Herchel. Sounds like Hershey. Makes me want chocolate. But aside from that, what did he do in relation to Polaris? Well, I have no idea. She tried to quietly flip through her book to find out. She wasn't being quiet because she thought trying to find some shred of education on the topic wasn't allowed, but because she didn't want to be too loud. And because she was sort of hoping Airey would start singing and jumping across desks again because she liked it when he did that. After a quick review, she raised her hand. "Well, Professor, he was the first to notice the solar system was actually moving through space. So maybe that has something to do with the fixed position of Polaris?" How, she wasn't really sure but she thought if everything else was moving, maybe it would make it easier to learn more about the things that were holding still? She kept her notebook out, ready to write important things about it - and also, maybe to think up some new ice cream flavors because that was important too.
