Their schedules just hadn’t meshed. Nodding she said. "Yes, I remember now. Louisa told me about caring for the twins last week over some tea at the leaky." It had just slipped her mind.
Tasha mentally kicked herself. She shouldn’t have said anything. She knew that it could lead to opening a can worms. Tentatively she nodded "Yes, father begged me to come over. I wouldn't have gone if it had been Mother who asked. Dorian went there with me." Feeling Dorian squeeze her waist a little she decided to just spill the whole truth. "Mother wanted to show me some photo albums from many years ago when we were children that she had found while having the house elves clean the attic. She showed it to me and Dorian and she told anecdotes to fit with the pictures."
Licking her lips Tasha continued. "Don't get angry now Izzy but mother actually said that she liked Dorian and that she didn't disapprove of our relationship." Even though their mother knew that he too worked in MLE.
The can of worms had been opened. Quote:

It had been a long time since he'd had a beard and apparently he had forgotten how they caught things.
"There's other foods left, of course," Wes wafted the plate by Izzy again, just to see if she'd bite. No? Was she too CHICKEN to get her hands dirty? Heh heh, punny. "I ran into Emily over there," he informed her with a knowing smirk. "Seems she's becoming quite the social butterfly." Not exactly, but to hear him tell it... yeah. And did he mention how glad he was that she liked the beard? Because he was.
Wes' eyes narrowed though as Tasha brought up the, "Infection," he corrected her hastily, with a nod toward Dorian. He knew, see. "It wasn't related to nor caused by zombies," he added in a mutter. "It was just a... respiratory infection due to a mutilation of the Silver Fern plant." Stupid ferns. He'd had to lock up his wife due to that mess; obviously it was still a sore point with him.
Since no one else seemed to be going for the meat he'd brough over, Wes glanced down at his plate and looked for a place to set it down. Finding none, he tried to hand it off to a waiter-looking person that had just popped up with a plate of shrimp cocktails (Ellis). "Oh, you know my wife?" he asked the man lightly as he set his plate down on top of his. He gave the guy a second, more piercing look. "How do you know my wife?"
Wes pretended not to listen to the girls discussing their mother, but that didn't last long. He turned back to the group. "She liked you, eh?" he addressed Dorian with a sad sort of smile. "She must not know the real you then." Only joking mostly. He gave his old housemate a good-natured slap on the shoulder. Quote:

But Ellis was kind of nice. She did remember him. Kind of. "Ellis?" She prompted, needing to actually remember if it was his name. Not that she cared too much if she got it wrong. "It's good to see you too...." Kind of. She didn't really want a reminder of Armen. So she was going to be talking about him at all. "How're you?" And if he brought up Armen she would not be too impressed at all.
Ahh. Wesley didn't know who he was. She bit her lip a little. "Wes....this is Armen's brother." Kind of awkward really. Talking about her ex-boyfriend to her husband. Hopefully they could just brush over that topic. She still didn't really want to talk about her ex. "They are..." And very like their father. She wouldn't change her boys for the world though. She loved them. They were just like mini-versions of their father, apart from they didn't turn into wolves once a month. Something she was pretty glad about really. She smiled at Dorian though. Talking about her boys made her miss them, and she decided that she would try and leave early to go see them. "They are there much like their father..." Which she knew Wesley liked. Part of Izzy wanted a little girl, so she wouldn't be outnumbered in the house. But she was pretty content with her two boys are the moment. For now anyway. Tasha lasts words kind of made the others less minded in Isobel's head. Her mother approved of Dorian? That was kind of hard for Isobel. Her mother didn't like Wesley. Not that it made any difference, because she loved Wesley and wouldn't be changing her mind any time soon. But knowing her mother liked her husband would kind of be nice. "She liked Dorian?" That kind of made it sound like she didn't. Which was not true. She frowned, glancing between Dorian and Wesley.
She really didn't get it. What was the difference between them? Apart from the fact that Isobel was pretty sure Dorian didn't have a furry little problem. But her family, not even Tasha knew about Wes being a werewolf so that really couldn't be the problem. She frowned, rolling her eyes. "Well mother had to finally like MLE..." Though she clearly was not very happy at all. "Emily Social?" She asked, looking up at her husband was the raised an eyebrow. She really could not believe that. "I need to see that to believe it." Because Emily wasn't really known for being social. Though she would like to see this side of Emily. She would never meet a guy if she wasn't social. Though Isobel doubted that Emily was too interested in finding a relationship at the moment. She was like married to her job, something Isobel had experience with.
"Don't be mean..." Izzy scolded, resting her hand on Wes' arm. It wasn't like she was going to run off with this man, especially considering that it was her ex's brother. Though him putting his place onto Ellis' plate was quite amusing. Was Recard's brother a waiter? That was a nice job. She didn't know that they were employing waiters now.
"Clearly..." She grumbled, clearly not too happy with the whole her mother approving of Dorian and not Wesley. She knew it was petty, but she had thought that her mother would at least like Wesley a little. He was a department head after all. "She knows Dorian works for MLE right?" Because that could cause problems. After the initial polite nod, Dorian had essentially disregarded the young man with the shrimp, aside from the unacknowledged amusement at Wes’ acting as if he had been a waiter. Waiters didn’t generally avail themselves of the food, to his knowledge, but then he’d never actually had the pleasure of acting as one. He’d gone essentially straight from Hogwarts to chasing after his best friend across countries only to fail in what he’d been trying to accomplish. That was the past, though, and now he had Natasha. He’d just have to make sure nothing happened to her, and that was easiest done by making sure Gabriel stayed locked up in Italy. The man couldn’t come after him again there, and he had enough contacts to make sure of that. Although there were certain others of more recent annoyance who seemed to even indirectly come back like a bad knut, and an eyebrow raised at Isobel’s introduction of the newcomer to Wes. This could get interesting. He’d just prefer that Armen not actually decide to make an appearance.
His expression had turned pleasant again, or as pleasant as his expressions usually could get, as Isobel had spoken of the twins, however. That was another amusement. Wes having mini-mes, but then he had to admit that he wouldn’t have expected any different from his boss and former housemate. “Anything is possible. You might be stuck with three troublemakers for now, but things change,” he pointed out, a wry smile crossing his face. Wes wasn’t half as bad as he had been in the past, even if he still suspected his boss of seeking amusement by making him deal with certain former prosecutors and current department heads. Except, in a way, he almost would have preferred Roxanne’s glares instead of what had just been revealed, or even the topic of the fern infection. He wasn’t abandoning Natasha to the interrogation, though.
He’d just stay silent, even as Isobel had seemed to get even more unhappy the longer the conversation had gone on. He didn’t understand why their mother approved of him while obviously not so much Wes. That wasn’t his to determine. It had been interesting hearing more little anecdotes from their childhood, aside from the ones Natasha had told him herself ages ago, as well as seeing the photographs. He’d given Natasha another supportive squeeze, anyway, for support before turning to glance at Wes as he’d heard the almost teasing comment. “I can be charming if I like,” he responded dryly in a low voice, half-joking back. It was either that or another example of women being drawn to him for inexplicable reasons. He wasn’t even sure he wanted to understand that. As long as certain women next to him liked him, he didn’t mind if every other chose not to.
