"I think I can solve that problem," he said, eyes shining mischievously. "I've learnt the entrance to the kitchens." He paused to receive her admiration, and then went on. "It's behind a painting of fruits... we should--uh, do something to the pear." That much he couldn't hear, but how hard could it be?

And so Kahlan felt proud of herself as he hugged back, even if it seemed that he felt a bit awkward. She was giving him until... end of next year ~~at most~~? Then he'd probably be used to getting hugs off her. Most people she'd met seemed to adjust to it quickly!

"The entrance to the kitchens?" she repeated, eyes sparkling. Oh tasty food would have to be somewhere nearby then! Actually knowing what the entrance was would definitely help considering currently she only knew it was somewhere on this floor.

Apparently.

"That's amazing" she continued, still thinking of all sorts of foods which weren't burnt... "So a portrait of fruits? Well that shouldn't be too hard to find... I guess... finding out what to do to the pear might be though" she contemplated, thinking about some of the random pathways and corridors she'd heard about.
