"Yes, dear, I know," she replied gently, giving him a warm smile, then went on to elaborate, "I was, too. I simply mean that you should be yourself around this girl - don't go out of your way to try to impress her because you might end up making a fool of yourself. That's a common mistake." She paused, humming to herself slightly and drawing her gaze to the wall above Kaiden's head to ponder the best truths to share with the boy. "The best relationships begin with the foundation of friendship. If you like her, build that friendship. If things don't work out quite the way you'd prefer, at least you'll still have her friendship in the end, then, right?"
