It was nearly impossible to afford replacements for some of this stuff now that his paycheck had been practically cut in half and the school had no funding. NOT TO MENTION THAT SOME OF THE MICROSCOPES WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO BE REPAIRED BY MAGIC IF DAMAGED TOO BADLY.
"Do what you must, Mr. Odessa! Set phasers to stun!" he said, arms flailing a bit as he reached for his wand. Once he found it the man began casting Shield Charms over various instruments to ensure that they would survive this intergalactic attack.

While Flammy was shielding the equipment, and with Dora standing by to accio and capture the plushies, West was ready to do his THING.
"STUPEFY!" Jabbity!point!
"Immobulus!" Just to switch it up a bit.
"Stupefy!"
