24. Lumos
Minerva awoke from her seemingly sound sleep almost as if her cat-like senses had made her aware of something wrong. Reaching for her wand beneath her pillow as she sat up, she blinked to clear the sandman’s dust from her eyes and try and focus better on her surroundings.
“Lumos!”
With the casting of the spell, the room around her was alight with a warm soft glow coming from her wand. A light that revealed that there was nothing visible within the walls. The young woman was tempted to cast another spell…this one in search of any invisible intruders but caught herself with a shake of the head.
“You’re just being jumpy, Minerva,” she quietly berated herself, trying to relax as she leaned back down upon her pillow.
First light was soon enough to check on things.
