It was just cold enough that Mo figured the benches would chill them right through, so he brought a blue afghan from his dormitory and juried up a picnic.
And he hadn't been forced to pay for access to this spot either. Mo set stacked plates on the blanket, and then, because he was too antsy to sit around and wait, he walked around the perimeter of the courtyard.
One lap. Two laps. Four laps. One jogged lap. Two jogged laps. Ten jogged laps. Wonder how many laps made a mile, anyway.
Nice weather. Good for curry, Alice decided. But just in case it took a turn for the worst and got all wet and soggy, she had her sweater on.
"Why're you doing laps, Cactus? We're picnicking now, not training." Vivi was the only one who was supposed to work him to the bone, right? She gave him a curious look or two and eyed the blue afghan he'd spread across the ground before joining him in jogging around the perimeter of the courtyard.
"You invited me out for a meal of curry and we're having a running day instead," she informed Mo, still running alongside of him. Alice could do this for hours, did he know? She sped up and cut him off, jumping in front of him and getting in the way.
'Cause if he didn't know that either, she could outrun him, too.
