Now that Ethan had done the required charms, he might as well do some unrequired ones too. He thought he might at least do Impervius. That was supposed to keep something clean, right? He found an empty desk toward the back of the room. "Impervius!", he almost yelled at it. Hmm. Now he had to be able to test it somehow. He tried to think of some spell somewhere that would work. Maybe Incendio, but if it hadn't worked it might fry the desk, and Ethan was pretty sure that Professor Knox wouldn't want open flames in the classroom in the first place. Ah. He was pretty sure that he had heard another student say some spell and had water come out the end of his wand. "Aguamenti!", he exclaimed as he remembered what the incantation was. Excited, he sprinted back over to the desk. Visualizing water coming out of his wand, he cried, "Aguamenti!" Nothing happened. Visualizing and this time flourishing his wand, "Aguamenti!" he shouted. Water came spurting out the end of his wand. He was relieved that the water bounced off the desk. Ethan was so proud of himself. He knew he was becoming a better wizard with every second he spent at Hogwarts.
