It gives you this--" Marci struggled for a moment trying to come up with a word, "--funky look! It'll be SO great if I get out of here with a dozen jars and an egg hat on my head. Now I know why Merlin didn't want me to wear my beret! It's destined, I think. If five galleons aren't enough, I can pay twelve. I can't pay more than that now because we still need to stop by the three broomsticks and have something to eat. Papa didn't tell me there was a sale here, if he had I would've brought more money. Can you believe how lucky you and me are? You want to sell things and I want to buy them!" The twenty one year old flashed the girl a dazzling grin. SEE? Everything was so clear! "Your jars are more colorful and neat than the rest of the boys but I think it's because we, girls, know how to present things better. It's not their fault they forget about beauty. Especially when they're this young. But I want to buy your hat. You can break one of the jars and assume it was bought instead if you want." Botros, from where he stood by Mo's table, shook his head. "Hello Captain Fischer. That's Marci, my granddaughter. Marci, you can't tell her to do that. She offered you her egg jars." He chastised and waited for them to close the deal.
The little girl talked so much, and Alice's less than competent brain was having a bit of trouble keeping up with how fast she spoke and processing all the words.
"We're very lucky, you and I. And the presentation is just for people like you who know how to appreciate a fine artistic eye, see?" What gibberish was she voicing? She didn't have an artistic eye. Just good enterprising skills, obviously. Very good ones, or she wouldn't be in the middle of a sale right now.
"Tell you what, Marci. If you purchase.. say.. two of my jars, maybe? Then I'll give you my hat, free of charge and everything, no extra payment. It's a total bargain," she offered, tapping her egg cap again for good measure and adjusting the bill. Botros got a little wink from her, just so that he knew that she was handling it WELL, and then she turned back to his granddaughter.
"So. D'you want it or what? It's yours if you do." Quote:

Because she loathed him like she was getting paid to do it, obviously.
And the food she had with her was just stuff she had around the house, plus some other groceries she'd bought or whatever. And he could have them if he wanted them, but it wasn't like she'd bought them for him.
Vivi plunked the bags of groceries on the table and shoved them at Mo without a word. She was gonna have to have words with some of these small fries in about a second if Selina didn't hold her back. But in the meantime.... "Trade you groceries and 2 galleons for a jar of eggs, okay? Just don't share them with stupid people who aren't even worth dry toast and tepid water." Glare glare glare.
Mo scooped up the bag of groceries and tucked them under his table. Free food was free, right? Or did he have to share the food with the professor because they'd sort of come as payment for the eggs? There definitely wasn't enough food to share with the class, but there might be some to share with a few people.
"Thanks, Viv. We're not exactly bartering today, but do you think..." He fell silent at her steely glare. Okay, then. No talking was good. He could do no talking.
Alice's eyes began to wander as she waited for little miss Botros to make her decision on the hat, scanning over the stands until she noticed a very glarey-faced Vivi shoving groceries at a Mo. Oh. Was she buying eggs, too, or just making food deliveries 'cause of dingy schools and things? Would it be really awful of her to attempt to sell stuff to her ex-boyfriend's older sister or was that, like, off-limits? Nothing was off-limits, though. Ever.
"Did either of you see Selina here? She's supposed to meet me later." Would she want to buy eggs, too, maybe?
Conversational. Alice was being it today.
