Callie continued to admire her new plant for a minute or two before going back to her desk and hearing Ethan's watering instructions. "Got it." Yes, she wouldn't let the plant die. She still had the one Seren had given her a while back in her wagon and it was doing wonderfully.
When the conversation moved from the plant though, it seemed like the Prefect had something bothering him. Once he spoke, she heard what it was. A dream. "Hmmm, a recurring dream, huh?" Elwood looked at him for a second. "What's the dream about? The same thing each time?"
Ethan smiled at the professor as she returned to her desk. He trusted that she would take care of the plant he spent a good part of summer growing, but figured a little helpful care advice certainly wouldn't hurt. Then he nodded in confirmation when she questioned him about his dream.
He thought about his dream for a moment before responding. Same thing each time..?
"Um, yes.. and no.." he said, thinking about it more in depth.
"It is the same thing each time now within that time span.. but its reminiscent of a dream that I was having about two years ago after I transferred here. It's similar to that but changed." He took a deep breath, then looked at her for a moment in hesitation before continuing. It was kind of a personal matter, but it had been bothersome and he'd like her take on things.
"In the dream I'm having now, a lot of times it starts out differently but it often ends up the same.. hence the recurring part," he started.
"I end up at the lake with another person.. um, you know how sometimes in dreams there's a person who you know it's someone you know but you can't really see their face? This person is like that.. familiar but I couldn't tell you who this person is." Ethan looked at Elwood to make sure she was following before continuing.
"Anyway, this familiar person ends up in the middle of the lake, which is frozen by the way.. and they fall through, struggling to stay afloat.. and I try to get to the person to rescue them.. but I just can't." He frowned, looking down, recalling that frustrated desperation that sometimes happens in dreams when you just can't get from point A to point B. He shrugged a little and looked back up.
"That's the gist of it anyway.. It's just kind of bothersome since I have it fairly regularly. Like I said, I wouldn't call it a nightmare so much, but it isn't exactly pleasant either.. Do you have any thoughts? Do you think there's a reason that I have that one often.. like I'm being told something?" Ethan took a deep breath and sat back, taking another sip of his lemonade. He felt a little weird for sharing something personal like that, but he felt it was necessary, like he was meant to know something through this.
