Professor Elwood did not have to wait long for the first head to poke through the opening of the trapdoor and she crossed her legs in her chair as she awaited her students.

He didn't mind so much when he got to not pay attention in a class that was taught by a woman because at least he was starring at them and nod sleeping. Yeah. Because sleeping was OBVIOUS when you weren't trying to listen. Just staring at a pretty face was discreet. Smirk.

Shaking his head of this, he walked into the classroom and noticed ANOTHER really fit female Professor at the front of the room. Jeez. He had been good in a previous life. This was his prize. Gorgeous female Professors everywhere he turned. Thank you.

Ascanius smirked, ruffled his hair out of his face and approached his Professor, "Good morning, ma'am. You look lovely today." Bam. Charm on. Mmk, time to sit down and get settled.
The next student to enter the classroom was a boy, much older than a first year but he was not someone she recognized. Had he just not taken Divination until this term? "Good morning, how are--"

O__O What?

Calista was a tad taken aback by the 'lovely' comment; the boy knew she was an adult AND his Professor right? "Well, um thank you, but a simple good morning would probably be best." he cheeks were a bit red but she did smile politely at him.

It was a compliment regardless.

"Welcome back Miss Bishop, my summer was nice yes. I hope Tryouts are going alright?" The Divination Professor greeted the Quidditch Captain as she chose her seat.

Lex made her way up the ladder and into the Divination Classroom humming something to herself. New term with Divination and she might have been hoping to see a chocolate frog on her desk.

No such luck though.

Her face, under normal circumstances, would have fallen but it wasn't that upsetting. How curious. "Hello Professor!" BEAM. "Looking forward to your lesson today....despite the lack of candy." Ahem. "Did you have an interesting summer?" She asked, while looking for the right seat.
"Hello Alexa." Callie didn't quite catch what the Gryffindor had said right after her initial greeting but it didn't seem like she was meant to really. The blonde smiled at her anyways and answered her last question. "I did, although it was spent trying to come up with some ideas for what to do with Divination on an even tighter budget than before. We will manage though."

She knew that the professor was probably tired of hearing these words, but what else was she supposed to say?
"Hello there! I did, was you're summer nice?" Professor Elwood beamed brightly to the excited, young Gryffindor. It was nice to see enthusiasm from such younglings.

Oh if it wasn't the sleepy Ravenclaw. "Good day Mr. Barrington. Welcome back." She nodded politely as she watched him take a seat.

The next student to enter the room was a small, out-of-breath Hufflepuff who looked to be a first year. "Hello dear, welcome. And don't worry, you will get used to the stairs." She nodded. The Puffs weren't as well off as the Gryffindors or Ravenclaws but they still had a level up on the Slytherins on the distance from the Divination tower.

"Hi there!" Professor Elwood greeted the next Gryffindor to enter the classroom and watched her as she took a seat.

More often than not, some readings were......appropriate.

So she had to settle with the fact that Divination wasn't too bad.

Plus, Professor Elwood was definitely one of the most interesting Professors there is.

The Ravenclaw offered her a smile. "Good day, Professor Elwood. It's nice to see you." Really. It was.
"Beezus, it's good to see you again too. Was you're summer nice?" Elwood greeted the girl fondly with her nickname, the one the Prefect had taken to writing on her homework assignments. She had always been a good Divination student in the past and it was nice to see her back after her OWL performance.

Callie recognized the next face too. "Welcome back Miss Carter-Hope." Elwood greeted the quiet Slytherin as she took her seat.

Silly question she knew no professor would say no, but she asked anyway. Turning she went to find her usual seat near the front and get her things ready for class.
"Hello Minerva! Welcome back!" She smiled brightly as the Hufflepuff first greeted her. "Yes my summer was nice but I did actually miss you all." So in a way she was ready to come back but vacation was vacation. Her return would have just been nicer had she not had to deal with cut-backs.

Once he reached the classroom, Ethan climbed the ladder and stepped inside. "Good day, Professor," he greeted Elwood cheerily. No need to ask how her summer was as others often did in the first classes of the term. He had already visited with her in her office last week.

Good to see that this classroom didn't seem to be affected by budget cuts, he thought, and turned to find a seat. Oh, a few he knew here already.. He gave a nod to Taylor, Nigel, and Beezus, then walked over to the empty seat next to Minerva. Lowering himself in the chair, he pulled his messenger bag to the side and gave her a grin, "Hey, Min.." He vaguely wondered what form of Divination they'd be studying today.. that eye one they did last term sounded good to him right about now, as long as they were looking at actual people's eyes this time..
The new Ravenclaw male Prefect was the next to enter the class and Calista was happy that he came up to greet her. "Hello Ethan, the plant is doing excellently up here in the tower." He would have to stop by again soon to check on it for himself.

Just because she wasn't a blind believer in the subject, didn't mean she liked the teacher any less. She hoped that by signing up for the Divination Club, she'd learn more about the subject as well as how to be better at divining things - if that was even possible for her personally. She did think that very rarely, a few special individuals could find truth, meaning, and even predictions in things that the rest of mankind couldn't, so she was trying to keep her mind open about it.
"Welcome back Miss Dawnsel." Calista smiled at the Ravenclaw as she entered the classroom and found herself a seat.

Marcus Branxton, the boy's mother was working so hard to try and make these cut-backs as painless as possible. Bless that woman, she couldn't say the same for all the members of the Board though.

A breeze fluttered her hair, and for a moment Isobel felt like a character on a book cover, face turned into the wind as dramatic things happened in the background.

The feeling dissipated a moment later, though, and Isobel took a seat and pulled out her notebook. She fumbled for her quill and ink and set herself up by writing Divination Lesson One in the top left-hand corner of the page.
"Hello, hello." The girl seemed pretty excited for the upcoming lesson and that was promising. Callie was glad to have young students ready to take the place of the avid, older students who will graduate one day soon.

"Good day Miss Llywelyn." Elwood greeted the young blonde girl. She had mentioned before that she was from a community well-learned in the Divining Arts so Callie was glad that the girl had signed up for SNAC this term, she may have some interesting things to add.

Upon reaching the top, Carsyn readjusted her uniform and bag, then focused her sights on the room around her. This was unlike any classroom she'd ever imagined. The little tables were a surprise, though upon a few moments reflection, she decided they were a pleasant one. And certainly a sensible one for the subject of Divination, she supposed.

"Hello Professor Elwood," Carsyn spoke aloud, but barely above a whisper. She then hurried to step up on to the first riser and find a seat at an empty table. She was too painfully shy to ask if she could sit with people she didn't already know.
The next girl didn't seem confused, just shy. "Hello dear, welcome to Hogwarts." She was a new Ravenclaw, one of the ones she had noticed at the Sorting Ceremony.

After climbing up the ladder, the red head entered the classroom and just like she'd expected it to be, it looked pretty much the same as before. Interesting, considering the current happenings.

"Good Morning, Professor." She greeted with a polite nod then went to look for a seat to sit.
And then the new Head Girl was next. "Head Girl Dixon. Glad to see that badge on the robes of someone with a head on their shoulders." Not that the last one didn't, it was just an expression, right? "Welcome back." The blonde smiled at her as she moved towards the trapdoor.

Now that the tables were filling up and the clock was about to strike the hour she had planned for the lesson to begin, it was time to close the trapdoor and get things started. The Professor stood up from her seat and flicked her wand at the door, slowly closing it.

"It looks like we are all here, so let's go ahead and begin. Welcome to Divination, and welcome back for those of you returning. I am excited to see many new faces and for those people, I should introduce myself. My name is Professor Elwood and I will be your guide on the amazing journey that is Divination." She clasped her hands together, setting her bangles off into their usual jingling fury.

Continuing. "For those of you who have taken my lessons before today will remember that I've tried my best to give you all a well-rounded view of the Noble Art, rather than the mainstream practices we all are acquainted with. Today, though I've decided that, although it can be considered mainstream, the activity we will be doing is one I've decided is something all good Diviners should have in their pockets." Not literally though because that could be disastrous and messy.

"So what can you all tell me about Tea Leaf Reading?" She grinned excitedly at the faces looking up at her.

OOC: Please limit yourselves to one point or fact each. We don't want the whole task of tea leaf reading to be taught in each of your single posts, now do we?
