Everything looked fantastic.

Stepping inside the big room the blonde paused to take everything in and to wait for the other guests to start arriving.
For a very short period of time after he’d gotten the invitation, Dorian had contemplated not showing up. There was still that feeling like Wes had been amused at seeing how he’d react, having been sent down to assist Roxanne in opening the filing cabinet in her new office. Honestly, if there had ever been anything on his side, it could have gone badly, but luckily things had stayed relatively focused on the office furniture and he’d left once it had opened. He hadn’t done anything other than talk, but the information had been gotten and therefore he’d done his job. He’d had other things to concern himself with than smoothing over frustrations that he hadn’t ever asked for in the first place. That was what had convinced him not to stay away. He wasn’t about to put a stop to his own life just because others found amusement in playing with it or frustration that it hadn’t gone the way they’d wanted. He actually had a life again, and he wasn’t going to be afraid of things going wrong this time. Plus, Wes was still his friend, and his boss. He’d attend just for those reasons, and hope that his presence was gift enough.

The surprise party aspect of it all helped, too. It was a distraction, and as he’d stepped into the room at the ice cream shop, he’d raised an eyebrow slightly. Apparently he was one of the first to arrive, but at least there was pleasant company. Walking over, he lightly slid an arm around Natasha’s waist as she’d been perusing the celebration area. “I’m sure everything will go about as planned,” he said, only the slightest bit wryly and skipping over a greeting for now. As long as nobody got hexed at the surprise, and he had his wand if that happened anyway. He wasn’t about to go into anything unprepared, even if it was a bit overreactive. He was MLE, so that was his excuse. He wasn’t even going to use his past as his reasoning anymore. That was going to stay in the past.
