Hogwarts' kitchen is an enormous, high-ceilinged stone room, as large as the Great Hall. There are mounds of dusty brass pots and pans heaped around the stone walls and a great brick fireplace at the other end, which the House Elves used to use to cook and sit upon when in need of a break. Looking to cook your own meal? Good luck. There are no Muggle appliances or things to make the process easier here, since the house elves primarily use magic in their tasty meals...

If you're by the fireplace, then you're at the other end. Careful how you get here, though; the House Elves... if you see any... are a bit touchy about students invading and acting like they own their private workspace....
