So this is what things had come to for them, Riley acting as if he didn't even know Cece, as if she was just some random customer that walked into his shop. She would have commented on his new found attitude towards her but he had gone and moved on to the customer behind her.
"Thanks," was all she said. She didn't dare try saying anything else right now, she just needed to get out of there. With a ache in her chest and sadness in her eyes she grabbed the package off the counter and left. Riley placed the money in the till and slammed it shut. He didn't know what Cece was expecting him to do, if she was looking for some kind of proclamation of love, then she was looking at the wrong guy.
Besides, he wasn't a mind reader. She wasn't telling him anything, so he wasn't doing anything. Quote:

Tora left everything that she dumped on the floor where it was and quickly went around picking up the items and placing them on the counter for the man to tally up.

He knew the girl was joking, but perhaps if she knew he did carry them, she would actually want to buy one.
