The Butterfly Garden Between the Whomping Willow and the Front Gate lies a peaceful, flowery area. Though dead during the winter, the small swath of plants comes alive during the warm months—literally! Everything from foxglove to Flutterby bushes can be found here, and together with the feeders staked periodically in the ground, this area provides an excellent habitat for all kinds of butterflies. Even the occasional fairy will take up residence here. A small bench has been provided on the path for you to sit and observe nature, whether the gentle swaying of the Flutterby bush, the chirping of birds squirming their way into the birdhouse, or the fanciful flight of a graceful butterfly.
This year, however, you notice a small sign posted to the side of the path, clearly erected by Mr. Firth. As you get closer, you can make out the scrawl: "Due to budget concerns, we cannot currently keep the Butterfly Garden stocked." Sure enough, you notice that the exotic array of butterflies that was present last year is no longer seen. Upon further inspection, you see that the butterfly feeders are no longer full of the rotten fruit or honey water that attract them. Only a few moths that have lost their way are hanging around. |
