Her eyes flickered back over to him for a second, a frown appearing on her face as she tried to decipher the meaning. "Some hurtful, cutting truth is going to hit you. And it's going to help you move on. Or something."
And then she pushed the card over to Mo silently. His turn now?
Mo winced visibly at her words, and then again, and then a third time... 'cause there there three swords, so why not three jabs right to his innards. Was she doing that on purpose? Trying to communicate something specific to him? What was it, then?

He pursed his lips a bit as he drew down the card she'd drawn next to his past card, and then he flipped her next card. Perhaps a bit more forcefully than he'd intended, but it wasn't as if he threw the thing at her. "Ten of Pentacles in reverse." He eyed the book for a moment, looking for key words and ideas. "The Ten of Pentacles is supposed to be this great card of completion and success, like... you have everything you wanted and you're putting it to good use for the future and to help other people. But in reverse, it means that something is blocking you from having everything you want. You're being held back, maybe by you or maybe by some outside force. Or it could be that fear is keeping you from moving forward. Whatever it is, you're blocked right now. So that sucks."
No, it did suck. Mo immediately softened, reaching out to touch the card again and lightly slide it over next to her past card. He wouldn't wish blockage on anyone, especially not Alice. "Bet I'm reading that one wrong. I think it really means you're going to get 10 bags of jelly slugs in the mail tomorrow."
