The Reason-Hoobastank

He never imagined himself doing so, nor did he enjoy it. Yet he was persistent on helping the boy. Her boy. Severus Snape reminded himself each and every time of the reason he helped. He had promised himself to change, for her.

Every night, when he closed his eyes he'd see hers. Ones he made sure to avoid at classes.

Then he'd talk to her. Tell her he was keeping an eye out for Harry.

Hoping it'd erase his wrongs and polish his conscience.

He'd let himself tunnel down into sleep murmuring.

"I always do it for you, Lily. Always."
