In a real duel, no one would be calling out Ready. She didn't know whether it was the same with formal duels but she figured that she'd give Jory a chance...this one time...to get ready before she started casting spells at him.
Jory returned Alyssa's bow. Then he followed that up with the five steps in the opposite direction.
He thought Alyssa was just going to shoot a spell at him but she didn't.
"Ready,'' he called back. Raising his wand, he watched his friend intently.
"I will not be caught off guard,'' he thought.
