He hated doing it but he’d shaved his face.. but he had kept his side burns long. Had to have some sort of facial hair, he felt weird if not.

The night of the event had finally arrived. He’d spent way too much time getting ready and listening to his Grams tell him that everything with Egon would be fine and that he needed to just relax and enjoy his time out. Nathaniel didn’t do well at parties… or around big groups of people. WHY DID HE WANT TO GO TO THIS THING? He’d paced around his flat for what seemed like hours thinking about canceling on Mariel. He couldn’t do that. This was his chance, right? To prove that he wasn’t a jerk and that he was that nice boy she’d met when they were in school together. No. He couldn’t mess this up.

Nathaniel had finally arrived at the venue this Bash was being held at. He was nervous and could feel himself sweating. DISGUSTING, he thought. Was Mariel under the impression that this was a date? He'd totally be okay with that. His eyes wandered around the room looking for Mariel. She didn't seem to be anywhere in his eyesight.

He ventured off out of the way but kept the doors in his eye rang so he could spot Mariel when she arrived.

Mariel was slightly surprised that she had received an owl from Nathaniel asking her to meet him at an event she was already expected to attend. It was a Ministry affair, after all, and she was a bit eager to meet the new employees in her department. Plus it was a party and a reason to buy a new dress and shoes. The brunette wouldn't mind meeting Nathaniel there though. She was also interested to hear about his new job. She just hoped he wasn't under the impression it was a date. It's not like he was actually escorting her there.

The young woman stepped inside, green eyes sweeping the room. Mariel knew very few Ministry employees outside her own department and she didn't immediately see anyone familiar. Walking further inside, the brunette finally stumbled upon someone she knew. "Nathaniel," she greeted him with a smile. He looked quite nice, didn't he? All suited up.. though she never did care for those funny little glasses. "How are you tonight?" A little small talk, yeah?
