His arm still linked with Victoria's, Konrad spotted the shelf with shoes the shopkeeper had mentioned, and stopped there on their way so they could both grab a pair, before heading towards lane number two. That's where they were supposed to play, right?

As he had to let go of her arm to sit down and change his shoes, he found that he did it rather reluctantly, to his surprise, but didn't think much about it. "Do you want to go first?" He asked as he sat down on the nearest bench and took his shoes off, slipping into the bowling shoes. Yes, yes, ladies first and all that, but all he truly wanted was to delay making a fool of himself. He could already see a couple of shrunken heads glaring at him.
