Zhenya frowned as Laura was speaking. Well, family was important to her too but she was NOT going to be the one to make everything okay. She wasn't the one who broke it all. "I'm not going to talk to them. I decided that over a year ago and haven't changed my mind. At most I'll owl them through my address and they can find me. Or... I'll let them know I'm at Hogwarts. I guess." She stopped speaking and looked down at her hands. Why did Laura think she was never going to talk to her again? "And I'm not mad at you. But I'm sorry your summer was so bad. And I'm glad that you were able to forgive them and you're not fighting with them anymore." Well, she was glad. She didn't like the thought of her friend fighting with her family. But, Zhenya was relieved not to be talking to them anymore. She didn't miss them. The people she DID miss was her grandparents and they were dead.

"Did I tell you how my parents, when my brother went to Hogwarts, decided they were bored of staying home and looking after me so they shipped me off to Russia for my Grandparents to raise me. They raised me and they are dead. They were the two people who never let me down and who loved me unconditionally. They would never have lied to me and they are gone."
