|Who's On First? | Challenge Accepted.| | :Ink For Blood: | Team SUITS!| The thought that Nigel's family, or what he had of one, could be anything like her own was positively heartbreaking. Elinor never understood what it was her parents, or anyone, for that matter, had against people who weren't 'pure-blooded'. She listened to him, nonetheless, because he rarely ever spoke about his family at all. But from what she had heard, she could only tell that Nigel didn't deserve to be treated the way they seemed to. Then, again, perhaps nobody treated Nigel the way he deserved to be. "People are not defined by blood," she said quietly as she shook her head. It was more of an out-loud thought. But it sparked the urge to say something that he had thought over many times. "I will never care whether or not you are pure-blooded. Ever," she promised. Nigel was pure of heart, and that's all that mattered to her. Her family, she feared, might cause Nigel to question her own feelings towards the subject, even though it had never come up before. She didn't remember either of them ever caring about their heritage, except for curiosity's sake.
When he voiced his decision on the conflict at hand, she nodded once. "Perhaps we should. I could be wrong," Elinor admitted, even though the unlikeliness of that was apparent in her tone. "I could be completely wrong. They might not ask or care at all. It's not their business, in any case, which makes the choice to tell them entirely up to you." She wasn't going to volunteer the information, anyway. The brief look on the positive side relaxed her a little.
And so it seemed they had come to a decision. Elinor took in a slow, silent, calming breath. It wasn't so bad, really. "Not the end of the world," she mused. "I should visit them, anyway. It's been... seven years, at least," she realized, for just a moment feeling like a horrible daughter. But she wouldn't let herself feel bad quite so quickly. She needed to stew in the calm feeling of 'everything is going to be okay'. The woman offered an assuring smile across to Nigel, even though she wasn't sure which one of them needed the comfort.
