"Ella, dad is gonna curse Oakey again!!" One could say Sophie was exaggerating, but she truly wasn't! "He did it last time on the platform! I'm afraid he'll do the same tonight!" That was why she wasn't with Oakey right now, actually. Maybe avoiding him that day would help her go to her parents without having to tell them everything that night... and Oakey could be spared... for a bit longer. Hopefully! "I didn't owl them!"
Sophie couldn't sit still and grabbed a lock of her hair while shaking her head. Nothing would work. NOTHING! Her father would hate Oakey forever and there was nothing Sophie could do!

OH! Now Ella understood why her best friend seemed to be losing her gobstones. The Oakey/Mr. Campbell situation was kinda not good at the moment and now that Sophie and Oakey were together, she could understand her bestie's concern. First things first, though. Sophie needed to calm down a bit.

we, because Ella was on Team Sophie and she wasn't going to sit by and let her friend's father curse her friend's boyfriend. That wouldn't be good.
"First off, he doesn't know about you and Oakey cause you didn't tell him so...so there's that." Which means he wouldn't come right out and attack the boy or anything.
"And...well your mom will be there, yeah? Won't she like...keep your Dad under control or something?" Moms were meant to do that sort of thing, yeah? ...Not that Ella would know from experience.
...Sigh.
