Confused. Hair ruffle.
Okay, so maybe he should think up of more good reasons about being a Hufflepuff! Maybe... maybe the fact that they were all such good friends? Because... well... he hadn't met a mean Hufflepuff. Not even a mean person in any of the houses. Maybe Milton, when he was mad about losing and started threatening about throwing people and chopping off arms.
Alec focused his attention back to Lottie just as the girl started smirking. But... not in a bad way, he didn't think. Maybe she understood what he had said and was changing her mind? How awesome would that be? GRIN. Hadley would be so proud! GRIN GRIN GRIN! "Yeah? Awesome! So... you fit right in!" Maybe he was good at finding things as well. Like the Snitch? And his Dad's car keys.
... "Oh!" So his kitchen theory wasn't as good as he thought it was. "So...why do you think we're so close to the kitchens?" Not... that he was complaining. He liked being near the kitchens. "That's awesome! I mean... she doesn't poop on you or..." Not that he knew. And talking to girls about Pygmy Puff poop was just a bit weird, yeah? "Of course!" GRIN! "Erm... so... do you have any other pets?"
Embarrassing pet stories... those were always fun to share!
Yeah, Alec? We wouldn't exactly call it 'fit right in' if you pretty much share ONE single thing with the entire House. We'd call it, 'you're close enough to almost fit', and we wouldn't be that close to begin with.
But there was something about his enthusiasm that made her not want to contradict him. He seemed to be the epitome of Hufflepuff, though, TOO nice. And she was...far from that, clearly. But he had candy.
And he was a good Quidditch player.
So yeah. "Oh? Why?" did she want to say that stuff about the house elves out loud? Normally, she would...but...oh, wait a minute, she was gonna. "All those traits you described before? The house elves have them. So the yellow fit right in with them if you think about it." Although her tone suggested no hard feelings, it wasn't the nicest thing to say to the epitome of Hufflepuff, yeah? That he was practically a house elf? Or maybe it was a good thing, if you were a big time defender of those cute creatures.
She liked them. She just wasn't one of them.
BIG difference.
And the pets? Lottie smiled, "Oh, Merlin, no. No muffins for her in a week if she does that to me." Magenta was well-behaved, for a pet that belonged to a twelve year-old. "No other pets, no. Do you have one Alec?" she tilted her head to one side as she asked this. |
