That makes sense I guess.” It was like a bracket or something.
When Max pulled her closer, Em snuggled against him a little bit and nodded. “Yeah, and I just don't want Ella and Alec and everyone to be all sad.” Because baby badgers didn't need to be upset. Expecually when the didn't have a common room to return to.
As the Hufflepuff captain scored, Em let out a loud yell. “That’s how we do it.” And the keeper, he was doing really well, but when the bludger hit Ella, she cringed, and squeezed hold of Max. “I hope she doesn't get hurt out there.” she said quietly.
Even with all the excitement on the pitch with Nessie scoring again, Em didn't miss the announcer mentioning her and Max. Blushing, she pulled back a little bit from the boy. Did everyone in the school need to know? “Are we really that noticeable?” she asked. She wanted people to know they were together, but telling the whole school at once was just horrible. Soon though, she was drawn back into the the game, with another save. Man, her team was tough! When the snitch was captured, Em could't help but jump to her feet and cheer. “That it Alec!” Max grinned, "I know. Sorry." But he really wasn't. And he nodded once at her next inquiry, "Yeah. Slytherin's out. Everyone but the winner of the Cup will lose twice." It kind of stunk, but at least the first loss didn't mean one was doomed to lose the chance at the Cup, right? They just had to... not lose ever again for the remainder term, which was the dilemma Ravenclaw was facing.
Ugh. Ella. Max frowned up at his little Hufflepuff friend. She was just a poor little bludger magnet, wasn't she? "Her beaters aren't doing a good job of protecting her," he growled. "Same thing with when you guys played against us - didn't she get beat up a lot, then, too?" He sighed. "Poor kid." She was his favorite of the younger ones, next to weirdos Aidan and Ashby.
...........
He heard his name. Max's head whipped around and his eyes locked with the commentator, and then... his entire face flooded with red when he realized what she was saying. He frowned as Emmaleigh tried to create some distance between them and he whispered sadly, "Are you embarrassed to be with me?" Or... was it just the fact that everyone nearby had turned to look at them?
But that didn't mean Em had to pull away from him and make him look silly for having his arm around her as she moved away from him. Max didn't outwardly show his embarrassment by Minerva nor Em, though, and he simply lifted a hand to wave half-heartedly at everyone around them as if he and Em were royalty. He wasn't ashamed to be caught snuggling up to Emmaleigh.
WHOA. HEY. Did... mini Vashti really beat out Alec for that second snitch of the game? Max STARED down at the pitch, wondering if he was seeing things. Impressive. And... bizarre. But. "Alec'll get the next two," Max said aloud to Emmaleigh, though it was also spoken to reassure himself.
