He'd lost something, and he was to blame in some ways. He couldn't handle the loss, and it had broken him.

Not hard to make that leap, was it?

"So that's settled. Tell me if I'm being bossy, Max," she raised an eyebrow at him before continuing. "Max can be Batman. Em... will you be Batgirl? And I can be Robin. Bliss should narrate, obviously, even if it isn't a song." She smiled at the younger Hufflepuff. It was a shame they didn't have time to write a song, actually, because she had a feeling it would be very amusing. "Ness, I wonder if you'll be a mad assistant for the Joker. Does he have some of those? I want to use your crazy screeching if we can."

And now they needed to hurry and get ready for the presentation. "I'll make costumes... I can transfigure the masks the professor gave us if everyone will hand theirs over. It's not a full costume, but it should suffice. Bliss, you can start working out what you want to say. Ness and Em, do you want to start making bricks? We can just duplicate parchment and fold them from that, unless you have a better idea. I'm all about better ideas. We'll write one fact on each brick. And Max... will you help Lex get her own costume together? Hers should be more complicated then the rest."

"Maybe you can try the sticking charm to keep the parchment together for the bricks... or maybe the gluing spell, Lentesco, might work? Not sure. But... doesn't hurt to try," Max offered to Ness and Em. "And... so you don't have to make as many and we don't have a bunch of bricks to write on, maybe we can enlarge the bricks to make it easier to put a wall around her?" Made sense, right? They were running out of time.

Before turning back to Vivi, Max retrieved his mask and offered it to his housemate. He was going to be BATMAN.

...She was really trusting him to work on Lex's Joker costume? He didn't really trust his ability to do a better job than Vivi would, but... he could certainly try his best to make their Joker look vicious, couldn't he? "I'll do my best, Lex," he told the young Gryffindor as he removed his wand from his robes. He eyed the Joker's picture from the open book nearby, then closed his eyes to envision what he wanted the mask to look like. With a swift movement of his wand and a murmur passing Max's lips, Lex's original mask became a... well... it wasn't too bad of a Joker face (Source). People would surely recognize it well enough, right?

...Seriously, it wasn't too bad, was it? But... the hair hadn't formed on the mask like he hoped it would. He held the mask out to Lex and asked permission, "If I told you your hair color would be restored without a doubt, would you be willing to let me change your hair color to green?" He pointed to the Joker's picture in the book to punctuate his point. She needed to have crazy hair right now, and... well, he supposed she could just mess hers up. "Or you could just take the liberty to mess your hair up a whole lot and make yourself look insane." Whichever she wanted.

For her clothes... hmm... Vivi had said Lex's costume needed to be more dramatic than everyone else's; the Joker was the main character, after all. Hmm... what was nearby and useless that he could transfigure into a top for Lex? Hadn't Magnus said they could use anything to change into an article of clothing?

Max stole another glance at the Joker in the book. He was wearing a purple suit jacket...? That was kind of weird, but Max was certain he could do that. It wasn't too difficult, he thought, and the seventh year pointed his wand at a scrap of parchment on the floor nearby. Using the spell they had just learned in the first Transfiguration lesson of the term, Max changed the parchment into a pile of purple. He bent down to pick it up and found... it was a jacket, yes, but it was quite a bit bigger than he intended. "Erm," he said awkwardly, holding up the overcoat next to Lex. "You can... put this on over your robes, if you want, 'cause it's big enough. And... don't worry about looking too weird or anything." He thought she probably didn't care, but... "I mean, you're supposed to look a little crazy right now." He was trying to justify his mistake of making it a bit too large for Lex.

Mask. Crazy hair. Overcoat. That was enough to get the point across, right?
