He failed at that, but he needed money to... support his wife..." He used his finger to find further information. He paused to read every now and then. "...so it looks like he teamed up with two criminals to make ends meet by robbing the plant the Joker had worked at as an engineer? But they got caught, the other two were killed, and the Joker ran away as Batman showed up..." He spoke hurriedly, worried they were running out of time. "But the Joker fell into some kind of vat of chemicals? And when he came out... he looked like this. Surely it had mental affects, too." Max extended the book toward the middle of the group so they all could see the picture of the Joker's white face, bright red lips, and emerald green hair.
"And he found out his wife and... unborn child?..." he frowned at the page, "...were killed by a fake cop who really worked for the criminals that night. So... from all of this... I mean." Well? He didn't really know what to say nor how to say whatever he was feeling on the matter. "We can kind of see how a bunch of different factors affected his mind... and heart."
...which it seemed to be, and rightly so. As the girl took avid notes and sprouted out ideas, Max was embarrassingly impressed with her; his big grin showed that. "I like it." And that was that. Lex as the Joker would be funny.
And then Max realized he was the only guy in the group.
DID THAT MEAN HE COULD BE BATMAN? ... but if one of the girls wanted it, he'd let them have it. So he didn't say anything on the matter.
"It's creative, witty... sounds like an overall great demonstration." Max was a sucker for metaphors.
But Max didn't know what else to add to Vivi's idea. He approved of it and she seemed to have a pretty clear idea in mind of what they were going to do, if everyone agreed.
So he waited for further instruction of some sort. Quote:

Bliss needed her guitar though, and unless the teacher let her use a spell to create one, which she'd done before, then she'd have no guitar. Quote:

What was even more perfect though was Vivi's desciption of her plan. Nessie liked it, it had irony with the brick walls, and it was a brilliant idea. "I really like how that sounds, Vivi." Wait, she was allowed to call her Vivi right, because Lex seemed to have done that too. Maybe those two were closer friends. Oh well it was just a nickname, surely it wouldn't have bothered her too much."I don't mind doing anything, within the skit." Even if it would be something embarrassing like screeching in front of the professor, Ness would help. She had gone through more than enough humiliating moments anyways, another one wouldn't hurt much. Quote:

If that was how they planned to show defeat then she was soooo up for giving the role to the next guy. The Joker was great and all but at the end of the day, he'd be in a comic book and she'd be in the Hospital Wing.
The thought quickly vanished though when she heard the others discussing a bit more. Okay. They sounded like they had brains that they used more than once a year. She guessed she could trust them. Yup. For now they had her trust.
"The narration sounds like a good idea too." "Write all that down on bricks," Vivi pointed out after Max found a wealth of new information. It was sad, though... they'd just gone from having a criminally insane villain who was pretty humorous in his clown costume to seeing the character as more rounded. He'd lost something, and he was to blame in some ways. He couldn't handle the loss, and it had broken him.
Not hard to make that leap, was it?
"So that's settled. Tell me if I'm being bossy, Max," she raised an eyebrow at him before continuing. "Max can be Batman. Em... will you be Batgirl? And I can be Robin. Bliss should narrate, obviously, even if it isn't a song." She smiled at the younger Hufflepuff. It was a shame they didn't have time to write a song, actually, because she had a feeling it would be very amusing. "Ness, I wonder if you'll be a mad assistant for the Joker. Does he have some of those? I want to use your crazy screeching if we can."
And now they needed to hurry and get ready for the presentation. "I'll make costumes... I can transfigure the masks the professor gave us if everyone will hand theirs over. It's not a full costume, but it should suffice. Bliss, you can start working out what you want to say. Ness and Em, do you want to start making bricks? We can just duplicate parchment and fold them from that, unless you have a better idea. I'm all about better ideas. We'll write one fact on each brick. And Max... will you help Lex get her own costume together? Hers should be more complicated then the rest."
