"Or maybe it was a phantom?" Not like the Hogwarts ghosts, like an evil phantom that could really hurt things.
She forgot that Presley was a year ahead? Because Pres didn't seem that smart? Or because she really was only a few months older than Elliot? Whatever. Obviously Presley was a genius, and a fifth year. Only two and a half more years until her NEWTs and then on to Healer school. She laughed nonchalantly. "Yep. But it's not that far ahead of fourth year." Except for they had to do so much more advanced magic, and much much harder schedules to juggle. Whatever Elliot, whatever.
Presley leaned closer. Obviously Elliot didn't want to say anything now, while the other students were still awake and possibly listening, but Presley could still gather hints. "What kind of things?" Like, had they made out yet? Was he even a good kisser? Pres didn't remember Elliot ever talking about that to her. Presley knew how to kiss, or so she'd been told by the several boys she'd kissed on her cruise last winter. Not that she'd kissed anyone since coming to Hogwarts this year. No stupid boyfriend, and everyone seemed to already be dating someone.
Elliot scowled..
."I have to deal with all that next year...just...great. Really great. I will need you to help..." she smirked and added,
'If help is even needed..." because Elliot rarely needed help with anything, really.
She shifted her position on the sleeping bag and eyed the thing....grumpily.
"I have never EVER slept on something so...lumpy. Or flat. Don't muggles sleep on these things?" she asked, twirling her finger around on one of the lumps...squishing it down...it was so strange.
"We aren't going to get much sleep, are we?" she asked, raising her eyes to Presley, looking suddenly...meehhhh.
But then Presley asked...what type of things...she just smirked and winked. "You'll see," she said mysteriously, shrugging it off...for now. But she couldn't keep Presley waiting forever.
"Wait for everyone else to sleep..." hehehe.
OH.
"Pres! Crud! How are things at home? How was Christmas?" she asked, eyes widening...she had worried about Miss Black...though she had spent a fair amount of time at Max's...and not at home. Home was too hostile right now. She had to tell Presley about....that, too. Hmm. So many things to tell her...

The boy sensed a bit of her familiar sarcasm in her voice, which made him smirk a tiny bit.. at least she wasn't glaring at him anymore. "Hello there, Elliot... didn't want to interrupt..." Your many, many conversations, he offered as reason for sitting down without much to say. But seriously, so much talking going on. Didn't anyone realize how late it was.. or how so very tired he was? Who could sleep with all this noise in the Great Hall created by what seemed like a hundred students all talking at the same time.
Ethan glanced up at Mick as he felt a nudge at his side and he offered his friend a tired smile. Shrugging he said, "I'm fine.. just exhausted."
It seemed like this day had lasted weeks. He had started to zone out a little as the voices buzzed around him and he glanced at a few that surrounded him. His eyes fell on Eliza and he offered her a little smile. The boy thought of the little notes she had jotted down and thought for a second about talking to her some more about them.. though it would probably be best to wait till morning when he had gotten enough sleep to think clearly. Besides she had started to talking to another young girl and he turned his attention back to the two closest to him.
Catching the tail end of a conversation, Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Honestly, Elliot," his tired voice a bit raspy at this point. "Don't you think that's a bit of a sensitive subject for you to be so flippant about?" Eh.. it was obvious the girl was curious, but divorce was such a personal issue... and for all he knew it could bring up all sorts of bad memories for his friend. And that was probably the last thing Mick needed on a day like today.

Amazed isn't usually the word he would use to described someone's reaction when telling them he has divorced parents. But he took what he he could get because talking about his parents got him to forget about what's going on at Hogwarts. And plus, Elliot fascinated him, she's different.
"Actually, nothing really changed," Mick told her. "Mom and Dad weren't great together, plain and simple. Mom liked travelling away from home, which is part of her job. And Dad wanted a relaxing, life-style with her home." That sounded about right. He doesn't know all of the details of what their relationship was like before and after they got married. The distance between them was extraordinarily great as Mick got older. And he noticed subtle hints that they were never compatible. Thinking about it made him feel a little sad because it reminded him of how he rarely saw his mother during his early childhood; it was like she never existed.
He overheard what Ethan had said to Elliot; and while it did bring up bad memories, at least he wasn't acting out like he had used to. Being able to talk about it without holding any hard feelings made Mick a little stronger about the subject. It was kind of a shock to himself that he was open about it to someone he just met, especially since the divorce was very hard for him to get over. But still, his friend was looking out for his best interests. "It's okay, Ethan..."
Mick glanced back at Elliot and flashed a small smile to her, hoping he wasn't bringing her down or anything. "The last time I saw them talk to each other was last year. But you know, it's okay. I think they're
happier apart." It didn't bother him that she had asked him so many questions, he didn't mind at all. Now it's his turn to ask the questions. "How old are you? Do you have any siblings? What's your favorite class? What foods do you hate?"
She shrugged at Ethan..."
You could never interrupt me, Ethan," she said with a slight wink and then smirked. Ethan was fun to tease...hehehe. She thought she might as WELL bring up Minnie...and...just SEEM like a good friend...ish....
"How's...Minnie..." she managed to get out, her voice a bit grumbly...
Now she regretted asking. Because now..he would actually answer. And Elliot didn't want to hear that they were doing okay. Because...she still disagreed HUGELY with his decision.
Stupid Minnie.
ANYWAYS-Back to Mick, Ethan's much nicer counterpart! hehe.
She listened to his...explanation about his parents...and their divorce. She nodded.
"Yes...It seems like they aren't...meant to be, then. It's probably all for the best that they broke apart, then." She was just looking at it in a...logical way...
And then ETHAN scolded her...and she scowled.
"He seems fine, Ethan. Merlin," she rolled her eyes and looked back at Mick. Who was smiling. Hehe. Elliot just had that effect on people, now didn't she? She was about to ask him something else when he fire about A MILLION questions at her..okay, not exactly that many...but still! She took a breath.
"I'm a month away from being 15..." SO 14. But almost 15 sounded waaay cooler.
"I have three. Two sisters, one 12 and one 8, and a one year old brother." Her mouth twitched at the mention of the boy...she was still...getting used to the baby. What was her favorite class...easy. "
Transfiguration. Easily my best subject," she smirked, absentmindedly fiddling with her earrings as she talked to him.
"And..foods I hate..another easy one..sweets. I hate anything sweet..." she said with a smirk. It was weird...and knew it...but...oh well.
It was just Elliot.
