"Can you really get away with stuff if people think you've gone mad??"

"I don't think someone who's mad gets away with anything, but... sometimes, I think... there has to be real proof that you're actually insane. So then maybe you're mentally treated instead of... treated like a criminal. But with the Joker? I dunno. I'll accept that's he's criminally insane, but..." He trailed off. By the sound of it, this Joker guy didn't deserve any of his sympathy.

Max skimmed the page he was on and turned it upon Emmaleigh's questioning. "I dunno. It looks like... there are a few depictions of him? In some, he seems to be a sick, twisted mind and in others he's quite the harsh prankster, but... it looks like most of the time he's the former. He's... loosely based off the Joker playing card from a deck of cards?" Was that meaningful? "And... he uses sharp-edged playing cards... erm... it also says he... has the tendency to..." how did he word it less gruesomely? "...change his victims' faces into smiles after they're deceased. That kind of... ties into the whole idea of the Joker and pranking and..." He didn't know what else. "But it looks like he 'does what he does' because he... feels like it? I don't see a real motive behind it...

"...WAIT! Here it says... he doesn't have a definitive back story, but it says his most well-known story is that... he was a chemical engineer who quit his job to become a stand-up comedian. He failed at that, but he needed money to... support his wife..." He used his finger to find further information. He paused to read every now and then. "...so it looks like he teamed up with two criminals to make ends meet by robbing the plant the Joker had worked at as an engineer? But they got caught, the other two were killed, and the Joker ran away as Batman showed up..." He spoke hurriedly, worried they were running out of time. "But the Joker fell into some kind of vat of chemicals? And when he came out... he looked like this. Surely it had mental affects, too." Max extended the book toward the middle of the group so they all could see the picture of the Joker's white face, bright red lips, and emerald green hair.

"And he found out his wife and... unborn child?..." he frowned at the page, "...were killed by a fake cop who really worked for the criminals that night. So... from all of this... I mean." Well? He didn't really know what to say nor how to say whatever he was feeling on the matter. "We can kind of see how a bunch of different factors affected his mind... and heart."

Max just frowned down at the book in his hands.

If there was one thing she wanted to do, it was sing. Bliss listened to the other ideas the group had. Lex wanted to do a little skit of some sort and she imagined Lex would be good at that. She carried on listening.

They all made lots of good points about the Joker's strengths and weaknesses, but Bliss strangely liked the skit idea. "Um. I think the skit idea is good, we could incorporate a lot of things in it," Bliss explained her view before lowering her eyes but still smiled.

Weakness because it meant you did crazy things, but strength because it was a good excuse not to be arressted. Not too hard this stuff then. "Also it say's that he jokes around a lot, maybe that could be seen as a weakness because he might get distracted from that?" Or maybe he didn't get distracted, but Ness knew she would have.

"As for the presentation, I can sort of act, I can't sing and my drawing isn't too good either. I'm more of a dancer." Not that she thought it would help much. She didn't mind helping out with speaking though, that she was used to all the time on the pitch. "I can talk though, if need be?" Yeah she would go with whatever the others wanted, she didn't mind. "Oh..um..and I can screech very loud, if you maybe want to use that for insanity?" She looked at her shoes not sure if that was the right thing to say.

So there were some singers in the group, some dancers, some actors. and some people who just seemed really happy to talk and contribute. That was perfect. Max lifted his gaze from the book to give them small smiles of encouragement. He was especially proud of the little ones.

The best group, he had said so.

When Dani asked about their method of presentation, Max... turned to look at Vivi, as if it was somehow her decision.

She was willing to take suggestions so everyone had a role. "And while we 'fight' Lex, we build up these walls around her with the information we have written on the bricks, and the walls end up being the walls of her asylum... her prison. Sort of like the Joker's background and personality as the real walls imprisoning him."

Too metaphorical?

...which it seemed to be, and rightly so. As the girl took avid notes and sprouted out ideas, Max was embarrassingly impressed with her; his big grin showed that. "I like it." And that was that. Lex as the Joker would be funny.

And then Max realized he was the only guy in the group.

DID THAT MEAN HE COULD BE BATMAN? ... but if one of the girls wanted it, he'd let them have it. So he didn't say anything on the matter.

"It's creative, witty... sounds like an overall great demonstration." Max was a sucker for metaphors.

But Max didn't know what else to add to Vivi's idea. He approved of it and she seemed to have a pretty clear idea in mind of what they were going to do, if everyone agreed.

So he waited for further instruction of some sort.
