SPOILER!!: Ethan (and Minnie)
Though he had his attention focused on Mick, certain the boy had something more going on in his life than homework and sugar cookies, Ethan briefly wondered if he should call the server back over and order something else to eat. He couldn't figure out why he was sooo hungry lately, though his mum mentioned something over break about a growth spurt..
He caught a movement out of the corner of his eye, but before he could turn his head to see who was approaching, she was on his lap. "Well, hi there, Min.." he started with a grin as he slipped an arm around her waist. And then she was.. kissing him? That was a surprise.. albeit a really nice one, he thought as he leaned into her, returning the kiss. But it was over as quickly as it began and she was at his ear whispering something about an explanation..
"Wait.. where.. ?" the boy started as she quickly walked off. He stared after her for a moment as the girl walked back to her original table, then turned back to Mick with a grin on his face. "So that was Minnie.."
Okay...Mick knew that there was something going on but he didn't give two bits about it, as he just continued with his cookies. This is girl - that girl that he was looking at before - she comes out of nowhere and...
Um, wow. This isn't what I would normally see every day. He didn't know whether to look or not. He watched for a second then began to look at the people outside the window.
After Ethan had said something, he just unexpectedly laughed. Mick didn't know why but that was one heck of an introduction to the girl that his friend is dating. "Wow, just wow," that was all he could say.

Ethan slowly chewed his cookie as he thought over Mick's words. So because he was human, it was alright, in his fallible existence, to allow the thought of another to creep into his mind.. as long as his feelings remained the same.. But did they?
Ethan nodded and allowed a small smile to form on his lips. "Yeah, I guess you're right," he said, feeling a bit better having talked to his friend. "I suppose it's normal. Not a big deal, really.. just something I was wondering," he added with a reassuring smile. But he did feel slightly guilty..
Pushing that feeling to the back of his mind, the boy finished the last of his cookie. Ethan made use of his napkin, brushing off a few crumbs. Then he turned back to Mick, wanting to change the subject somewhat. He didn't want to make it sound like his social life was problematic, really. "So, anything exciting going on with you?"
After all the excitement...
"Maybe I'm not the best person to be giving advice," Mick added, truthfully, "since I never experienced any of this but it feels true and that's how I feel." He felt that he needed to say that, maybe Ethan wanted some words of advice from someone more mature about these sort of things. Secretly, he wished that he could be that type of friend - the friend that knew it all, no questions asked.
After eating up the last broken piece of his cookie, Mick's face made a little smirk-like smile. He looked at this plate and then back at Ethan, slowly nodding. "I met a girl and I think I like her," he replied. "But we just met and -" he dropped off in mid sentence. He didn't know how to finish. He was probably making it a bigger deal that it is, but his feelings about her confusing. "I would like to be friends with her, and if we want to be something more than friends later, then being friends seems like the perfect start. I think I like her as more than a friend but I'm wondering what if my feelings change later. I think she likes me too, because she
kissed me. Well she kissed me on the cheek, but that counts right? I don't want to hurt her feelings if my own emotions about her change. And what if her feelings change?...." Mick stopped himself when he noticed that all of that was coming out so fast and he might be over-thinking it.
"I'm making this confusing, aren't I?" he asked.
