Smiling Nell went back and sat in his lap. "I understand. To be honest I didn't know I felt that way until after the words were out of my mouth." Talk about surprising yourself! "You take all the time you need. I'm not going to pressure you. Just know that you are one of the best things that has ever happened to me."
Smiling she kissed him again. She liked doing that.
His eyes searched her face during the painful silence as she registered what he said, but breathed out in relief as she said she understood. A smile appeared as he realised she was surprised at herself for saying it and meaning it. If she hadn't been already sat on his lap, he'd have pulled her closer, but as it was, Ed just hugged her in relief.
Before he could say anything back to her, she'd kissed him. He smiled against her lips and returned her kiss. When he pulled away, he looked into her eyes and replied softly. "And you're definitely the best thing that's happened to me." Even if he wasn't ready to say the 'L' word, he was happy to tell her this truth.
