She ground them down substantially and then took some sprigs into her hands, with her gloves still on, to break up. She tried her best not to lose any of the sprigs through her fingers but she may have dropped a piece or two...or three. I wonder why we don't have to wear masks while we grind poppy seeds. Maybe it's only the full poppy flower head that makes you sleepy? She re-gathered what she could and put it into the mortar to continue grinding and crushing. Once it looked about right, she added it to the potion.

Eliza was glad she had found her gloves earlier, because she did not want to pick the leech up with her bare fingers. She thought it was sort of cruel to give the leech a last meal that would destroy it entirely, but then again, if she was being honest - she really didn't care much about the well being of leeches. She picked hers up between two gloved fingers and quickly dropped it into the potion. Sure enough, the little sucker grew to almost twice or three times its original size as it fed off of the blood in the cauldron. Then it began to fall apart. It was sort of grotesque to watch, even if it was just a leech. Its body made tiny, tiny bubbles as it seemingly melted away into the potion, turning the mixture a very deep red. Well that was rather creepy, she thought with a slight look of disgust. Why did we need five leeches, when she only showed to use one?She shrugged and hoped all of these potions would be stored or given to the ministry for good, just, and official use - but she wasn't so sure that's what was going to happen. She delayed a moment, wondering if she really should finish the potion or not, and ultimately decided that it was a much safer version than others so she might as well contribute to the world in a the way of a lesser evil potion. "Verax," she said as she made a sharp jabbing motion towards it. There. It's done, she thought as the potion shifted to a completely clear appearance.
