She blamed it on her parents.
She slid the book over toward her being extra careful not to move the shoulder Milton was leaning on. "I'll read it to you." she said.
She cleared her throat a little and let her eyes scan the page. "Once upon a time..." she said in her normal "reading fairy tales voice."
She scanned the page more.
"It was 16-something or other..."
Milton scooted a little closer and readjusted his head on Anya's shoulder. There. That was more comfortable. Then he watched Anya pick up his history book and groaned.
"What happened to me saying I don't want to do it anymore?" His head hurt too much to even think about reading.
Sighhhhh.
"Goodnight," he mumbled, ignoring the beginning of her story. And with that, he stumbled out of his chair and flopped onto one of the couches. Ohhh, yes, that was much comfier.
