Not all people have to be bad Hannah...she scolded herself.
He liked Hogwarts and that was good. Hannah sometimes still to this day felt like she didn't know if she really liked Hogwarts but she wasn't going to go into the reasoning behind why she felt like that. At least not today! "Yeah I guess you haven't been here long enough to really decide either way." Plus his first year here was a crazy one. He even noticed that they were having an awful lot of classroom disruptions. She smiled at him. "No it's never been like this in my years here." She can't really remember ever having any disruptions other than the students doing something wrong, but that was to be expected while teaching magic. "It's really odd...the whole ghosts being in every class and the headmistress barging in like a crazy person over a brooch." Something just wasn't right and Hannah was definitely wondering what was going on. "Even the professors seem different...like they know something...or maybe they are worried about what it going on." This subject really had her attention. "Everyone is making up their own theories." Not to mention the board of governs people being here. Something fishy was definitely going on.
Hannah really like the fact that Ethan seemed like he was really listening to her. Not just listening, but acting like he actually cared about what she had to say. It was nice...she didn't always get that feeling with people. She noticed his smirk when she mentioned that her parents were strict. So they had that in common...that was good. Maybe she could talk to him about her parents...at least he would get it. Still this was not the time or place. She would only go there with him if they developed a strong friendship. Back to her Slytherin family. "Oh yeah... as far back as I know we are all Slytherins." Her family was quite proud of that. She listened as he told her about his family. "Sounds like you have yourself a nice family." she added with a smile. Yes...being pureblood was an important thing to her. She was raised to respect noble families and it sounded like Ethan came from one.
They were back on her large family. She always wondered what it would be like to be an only child but she didn't think she would like it since she knows what it's like to have a large family. "No. My older brother Marcos works at the Ministy and my two younger siblings are not old enough to come here yet." Yeah they were all pretty much spread out. She grined at him when he added that he had cousins. "Well I am glad that you were not deprived of your childhood." she added playfully.
She again felt like Ethan really cared about what she had to say and in return that made her eager to talk some more about herself. What was there really so do at Hogwarts? "Hogemeade is pretty big for us. I enjoy going over there and I also like to bring a blanket and lay out around the lake. It's peaceful." Those were her two main things here at Hogwarts. Now outside of Hogwarts was a different story. "At home I love to play Quidditch and just fly in general. I love the warm weather so I get as much beach time as I can." She felt like she was going on forever about herself and she didn't want to bore him. "Sorry if I am talking too much. What about you? What do you like to do? she wondered.
Ethan nodded slowly as Hannah discussed the current classroom disruptions. Well, that was good to know that this wasn't a regular occurrence as he had remembered thinking how hard it would be to learn much of anything here with all that going on. But then if that wasn't normal.. why was it happening so much now? Ghosts, headmistress, right..
"And the house elves, too," he added, remembering their interruptions.
"Where I'm from, they're typically not seen." Not that he had a problem with the little creatures really, but wasn't it in their nature to perform their duties unseen? Apparently not at Hogwarts. His eyes wandered back over to her face as she continued, his own face becoming contemplative. He couldn't really comment on the professors, this being his first year and all, but he raised an inquisitive eyebrow to her next words..
Everyone is making up their own theories. "And do you have a theory as well?" Because he'd like to hear it.
Ethan smiled at the girl as she complimented his family.
"Well, thank you," he said with genuine appreciation. His parents might be strict and drive him crazy but he felt he was rather close with them, including his extended family, and he was quite proud of that.
"Yours sounds quite nice as well," he added with a smile. He had always wondered what it would be like to have a brother or sister.. and even though Hannah's siblings didn't seem very close in age, he thought she was pretty lucky to have them.
"The British Ministry?" he asked as she mentioned her brother. And he figured it was that one, wasn't she from around here?
"What does he do there?" the boy asked with a bit of curiosity. This was his OWL year after all and he knew he'd have to soon choose a path for some sort of career. And he had no idea what he wanted to do.. maybe if he heard about something interesting that could help him decide.
Eh.
He chuckled lightly as she commented on his childhood. Nice sense of humor that one had.
"No, certainly not deprived.." he grinned at her.
"I do miss them though, they go to Beauxbatons," he added, his smile fading ever so slightly. Or at least two of them did.. and that meant he did not see them nearly as much as he did last term. He shrugged.
It is what it is.
The fifth year tilted his head as he listened to Hannah talk of things to do. Hogsmeade had been fun, he nodded as he remembered the one weekend they got to go this term. And sitting at the lake sounded nice to.. he was sure the view was beautiful.
"Oh, I like Quidditch too.. Do you play on the House team here?" he thought back to the last game and didn't remember Hannah being there, but maybe she just didn't play that day.
"I don't play much but I'm a big fan.. Who's your team? I like the Heidelberg Harriers," he said with a grin. That was obvious though, since they were from his hometown. His grin grew at her mention of the beach. He was definitely a warm weather fan and the beach was probably his favorite hangout. Too bad there was nothing like that here.
The Ravenclaw boy offered her a friendly smile. Talking too much?
"No, of course not.." He had wanted to know a bit about her, that's why he asked.. He was just glad she was comfortable enough to talk freely to him. And what did he like to do? He already mentioned Quidditch..
"Well, I do prefer the warmer weather and visiting the beach.. but sometimes snow can be fun for skiing. Sometimes we visit the Swiss Alps for that." Like once or twice a year, because any more than that and the snow's novelty wore off. Cold could only be so much fun.
"We have a few horses and Abraxans at home.. they're fun for riding." Oh and speaking of riding.. he thought of something else that was fun..
"One of my friends from Beauxbatons has this Muggle car called a Ferrari, I think.. I don't know how to operate it, but it's really fun when it goes really fast.. kinda like riding a broom but on the ground." Of course, his mother would
kill him if she knew he was riding around in that thing, but he supposed the fact that he wasn't allowed made it even more exciting.
