be curious, not judgmental

They had been EVERYWHERE. The long walk from the Quidditch pitch to the school had been fun, in some ways - terrifying in others. Any time Emmaleigh began to slip on a particularly slippery patch of snow or ice along the path, Max had to practically launch his body around her waist to steady her. Luckily, they hadn't fallen once. It helped that they took it as slow as they could, of course.

After stopping by the kitchens to get two large mugs of tea, Max led Emmaleigh up to the seventh floor, careful not to spill much of the tea as he sipped it while they climbed. During the climb, they talked quietly about how they were going to go about getting in, what they needed to think as they walked passed, and what would happen if nothing happened. Upon reaching the top of the final set of staircases, he instinctively headed toward the Ravenclaw common room - then remembered the task at hand. Though it would certainly have been cozy there, Em couldn't come.

The Room of Requirement was calling their name.

Leading Em down the left corridor, Max slowed his pace, his eyes on the painting of Barnabus the Barmy. Then he turned, his eyes focusing on the wall opposite the painting. "Well. Should be here." He cleared his throat nervously, his stomach suddenly churning with worry that the room wasn't going to let them in. But... they were COLD. He still didn't have all the feeling back in his toes or the fingers carrying his broomstick. His ears were cold, too, and his nose! Max looked at the blank wall long and hard, silently pointing these things out to the wall as if it somehow needed prepping to fulfill their wishes.

He stepped back a few feet, leaving Em standing in front of where he thought the entrance would be. "You can do it." It wasn't an offer - it was an encouragement. He was too doubtful to think clearly enough to do it properly. Em would probably do a much better job at envisioning the kind of room they needed anyway, right? A cozy warm one.

If Max did it, it would probably just look very similar to his own common room.
