She felt her stomach flop and the blood drain from her face. She opened her mouth and took a small gasp of air. Now they're really going to hate me she thought. She had only been trying to help, but she'd known it was wrong to lie. I should've just let Cora handle it on her own. And although she should have kept her mouth shut, she still couldn't picture herself hanging Cora out to dry.

Oh thank goodness, she thought as Cora explained why Eliza had lied. She stood firm and looked at Ethan and Elliot, hoping they'd understand, but also showing them that if they snubbed her for this she would still feel she'd done what she thought was best. She gave a sideways smile to Cora, to apologize for putting her in this situation and to thank her for trying to get them out of it.
