Kurumi chewed on her lip anxiously as she watched Daichi and listened to him count. She could literally hear his resolve breaking with each number he said and she didn't have to see his face to know that he was crying. She didn't want to see those tears on his cheeks, especially since he had been wanting to hide them from her. From everyone.
Still...the fact that he was crying brought a faint smile to her lips. Good...that was really good... Even if he didn't see it that way, it was good that he was letting that out. It really was progress. Perhaps more progress than him just looking into the flame for a moment longer and not thinking anything of it had been.
Foolishly, Kurumi looked up and actually saw those tears now and her sisterly feelings nearly overtook her and she almost stepped back into the metal ring to wrap her arms around the trembling Slytherin. But no, she couldn't do that. Not now at least.
Okay...NOW she could.
The moment that Daichi dropped the cake was like having a spell broken. All that tough love and letting him stand on his own was gone and she immediately rushed to his side. Her own wand out, Kurumi waved it over the smushed cake to banish it and then wrapped one arm around Daichi's shoulders to lead him out of the circle and over towards some of the chairs off to the side. "
Yeah, we can take a break, Daichi," she whispered, rubbing his shoulders a little.
Once they were close enough, Kurumi reached into her bag again and pulled out a small box with
chocolate cupcakes in them. "
Here, have one, you've earned it." Not to mention chocolate had almost magical properties on its own to make one feel better.
