Indy's Herb Journal

SPOILER!!: What to include

[x] plant details - name, appearance
[x] common uses - in general
[x] personal use - how you used it
[x] include reflections on the usefulness and significance of herbs

(Record at least twice a month)

November

SPOILER!!: Parsley

Plant Details - Parsley. This herb is a bright green hairless plant.
Common Uses - Commonly used within foods in the middle east as a herb, spice or vegetable
Personal use - I used this herb on potatoes I ate in the great hall. I put some of the herb on them to add taste. It was very yummy.

I think that this herb is quite useful. It adds taste to food, which may not necessarily be there. Not only can it be used in just potatoes, but also in stews, and soups, which is very nice to have in the winter. It's clearly very useful in certain cultures food, which is good as we can't all be in the same

SPOILER!!: White Sage

Plant details - White sage or Salvia Apiana. This is an evergreen perennial shrub that is native to the south west united states.
Common uses - Usually used within pinole which is a staple food. Some tribes also used the seed to remove foreign objects from the eye. Some women also made a tea from the root to aid healing and strength after childbirth.
Personal use - Taking from the idea of healing, I used to the herb to make a tea as I wasn't feeling too good. It tasted horrible.

I didn't personally find this herb very useful. The tea I made was horrible. But then maybe I didn't make it right. The many common uses make the plant a very pro-active in providing more than one use, which is good.
