November 10

[x] Mentha "Mint"-Has got leaves that range from oblong to lanceolate and they ranged in colour from dark green to yellow and blue. the leaves are rough in their texture. It has got square stems.
[x] Common uses- In cooking as a herb and as a garnish. In cosmetics as a antipruritic and once in the muggle world they even used it as tooth whitener.
[x] Personal Use- I used it yesterday and today and put it in my tea because I wasn't feeling well and my mum used to give it to me in some tea when I was sick back home
[x] Reflections- I like mint because of the flavor and that it can be used in so many things- I like my muggle toothpaste that tastes of mint and of course I love the herb itself

November 22

[x] Lemongrass- Has got long green leaves which have sharp edges. It has a lemony smell and flavor
[x] Common uses- used in herbal teas and cooking because of the lemon flavor.
[x] Personal Use- Had a bit of stomach ache and it was very helpful and soothed it.
[x] Reflections- being muggleborn, I know what man-made medicines can do but it is interesting to me that sometimes the best medicine is what nature makes- in the form of plants and herbs.

Text Cut: December

December 10

[x] Sage-Has got medium sized leaves. The colour of the leaves are a dark green with some light green around the edges.
[x] Common uses- In cooking as a herb. Sage is considered to be a healing herb that can help improve memory and lessen pain.
[x] Personal Use- I used it today because I had my monthly stomach ache and it is the only thing that helps me get through the pain
[x] Reflections- It is interesting that sage is used in medicine for women mostly throughout her entire life span really.

December 27

[x] Garlic-Has a small white bulb at the end of a long leavy green stem.
[x] Common uses- In cooking as a herb.
[x] Personal Use- I guess that the house elves used a little too much in the stew during lunch because I somehow got a mouthful. I love garlic but a mouthful is a little too much
[x] Reflections- It is interesting that garlic is one of the herbs used a lot in superstitions like against vampires, etc.

Text Cut: January

January 10

[x] Ginger- has got white and pink buds which bloom into yellow flowers.

[x] Reflections- It was odd how the cats reacted to it-- almost as if they couldn't get enough of it.

Text Cut: March

March 11

[x] Common uses- Both the leaves and stem are used for cooking

[x] Common uses- In cooking as a spice and in medicine as a oil used as antiseptic.
[x] Personal Use- Saw it written down in a potion recipe in my potion book. I thought that it was interesting that a common herb would be used in a old recipe so I looked the herb up.
[x] Reflections- Thyme was used in Ancient Egypt in the embalming fluid. That is a disgusting fact in my opinion. I really did not to know that!

May 15

[x] Rosemary- it has a thin stem with thin little green leaves. Sometimes there are flowers that bloom on it as well.
[x] Common uses- As a herb in cooking

[x] Reflections- I love the strong smell and I like that it takes away the pain.

June 17

[x] Oregano- has got thin stems and tiny green leaves that grow in groups of threes
[x] Common uses- used in cooking as a herb and as an antiseptic
[x] Personal Use- Added some crush oregano to my lunch today which just so happened to be pizza with mushrooms and onions. The house elves outdid themselves.
