⚘ Plant Basics - Lemon Balm, Melissa officinalis (Also known as Sweet Balm) ; Triangular shaped green leaves with small white flowers ; Possesses a strong aromatic smell of lemons which it uses to attract insects ; A member of the Mint family.
⚘ Common Uses - Mainly used to treat sleeping problems due to its calming aroma. It can stimulate a persons appetite and is often used for treating nervous stomach disorders. The herb has been used for culinary purposes as a result of it's distinct smell.
⚘ My Uses - Blended in with ordinary tea to create a lemony flavoured Herbal Tea.

As it is winter and the weather is getting really cold, ordinary tea just isn't enough. Sometimes I find it difficult to sleep at night and so I visited the kitchens where the House Elves helped me to brew up a Herbal Tea which my mum used to make me at home. It sent me to sleep almost instantly and it tasted delicious so I think its a very useful herb to have, plus it smells really good! We grow it in our garden at home and it attracts lots of insects like butterflies and bees. Its not very eye-catching usually but it is when there's a Monarch butterfly perched on its leaves.
