The fifth year gave the girl sort of an appraising look. He hoped that the Puff was good with magical creatures because he was a little worried about getting burned by the fire crabs, but he'd work with her either way. Just needed to know how careful to be. The boy's eyes then fell on Minerva's hand and he grinned. Good to know the girl wasn't squeamish.
"I'm glad you weren't bothered by the worms," Ethan said with a chuckle, thinking about all the flailing, screaming girls. "If you want, I'll take them," he offered. The boy had been a bit startled by the ghost and the sudden worm-shower that he hadn't thought of taking a few for himself instead of brushing them off. "I can use them in the garden," he explained. "They're really good for plants." Well, soil... but then they benefited the plants. Besides, he didn't see that jar the professor had them in anyway.
Ethan chuckled again when she mentioned Peeves. "A bit disruptive, isn't he?" Strange sort of ghost... he hadn't been used to that sort of thing at his old school.
Minerva smiled when he said that he would work with her. Good that awkward no partner thing was out of the way. She always liked to work with new people instead of just the same people she always worked with. "Nice to meet you Ethan." she then looked around to see if Peeves was still around or if the Professor had mentioned what to do with the worms.
Looking back at Ethan she blushed and smiled shyly. "Oh sure if you want to hold them." She thought for a moment, "Well if the professor doesn't mind and your not going to kill them then I'm okay with you having them, but lets make sure the professor wasn't keeping them for a special reason. She had them in jars I think that's what Peeves emptied every where, poor worms." Yes she was feeling bad for the worms, they were living creatures and did not deserve Peeves treatment. "They are good for gardens, and they love that type of soil." she mentioned liking that he seemed not to mind different creatures. "Have you been around Fire Crabs before?" it was an honest question being from the muggle world she never knew who knew what even after four years at Hogwarts.
Minerva then rolled her eyes, "I think that is an understatement when it comes to Peeves. He is always trying to get under someones nerves. I don't think any Professor can scare him off either, which makes it worse." she looked back at Peeves wondering if what she said to him earlier would help or not, but knowing Peeves probably not.
