In fact, he couldn't finish the sentence. Instead he gently closed Rowena's eyes and picked her up, carrying her, cradled, toward the open window. He wasn't going to toss her out of the window. Not by any means. He just needed some fresh air.

Matt was ultimately disappointed by Nate's answer. But he knew Nate was right. They couldn't go after their dear friend, but she truly was just bait. And he also knew that Jared would stop at nothing to destroy everybody involved. However, this didn't stop Matt from trying to devise a plan. He was a brilliant strategist, how could he have not come up with a working plan by now? As he watched his friend walk to the window, cradling Ro in his hands, he saw any last hope of getting Jez back disappear with it.
When a first year asked him what was going on, he just shot him the cruelest look he could muster up. With his eyes, he said what he wanted to say out loud. "What you don't know can't hurt you, kid." And Matt didn't want to see Team Wolf hurt anybody else. The list was too long already. Matt relaxed his expression and let out a deep sigh. "I'm sorry," he said to the student, "This is something that nobody else can be a part of. For safety reasons." He then looked over to his girlfriend. "Hey Pam, wanna go play some Wizard's Chess?"
