That had been a much happier moment. Although that memory made her smile a little. She loved her friendship with Max. It was nice. He was nice. A big brother to her. She knew she couldn't come to Spike about this so it was good.
"I don't know..." She mused quietly, resting her head on his shoulder. "He likes Bee..." She muttered quietly, aware that he probably had no clue what she was going on about. "He dated me when he liked her..." And that hurt. Max rubbed Indy's back lightly, hoping to bring some sense of comfort to her. As she spoke, his eyebrows furrowed and his eyes narrowed at the fireplace. "Dylan?" He inquired quietly upon the mention of a 'he,' then gave a few solemn nods after she continued. Ah.
The words his father once spoke of never trust a Slytherin seemed to ring true in his mind at the moment, but he didn't dare to speak those words. He didn't think they stood true normally, but... they did seem relevant for the present situation. "That doesn't mean he didn't like you, too, though, right? I mean," Max shifted slightly and pulled back enough to look Indy in the eyes, "take Bee out of the problem for a moment. Don't think about her. He dated you. He wouldn't have done that for no reason. There must have been something about you he couldn't have resisted, right?"
He paused for a moment, trying to find the words to speak cautiously enough that he wouldn't set her off, nor say something wrong. He didn't know much of the situation, or Dylan's motives in the situation, so he could only hope the Slytherin hadn't been using poor Indy as a way to make Bee jealous. "I'm sorry... that happened, though. I know that's... not going to be easy to get over." Max hugged the girl close once more and added, "But clearly you're better off without a guy like that. You don't need him." That was encouraging, right? "You deserve better."
