Maybe he'd actually gotten over them and had decided she was better off as just his friend and maybe sidekick. In any case, it just made her worry, and usually worrying needed chocolate to get over. And of course she didn't have any with her, since she'd been so not normal the past, well, however long it had been since the lake that she hadn't felt like eating chocolate. At least now she wanted that again, so at least that was fixed. Even if she still didn't know what was happening with everything else since Patrick was still annoyingly silent. It was almost enough that she either was going to smack him, kiss him again, or just leave. Any of those ideas were better than just standing there and waiting for him to say something so she'd stop being all worried and stuff, and maybe they could just go get some chocolate finally.

She didn't get the chance to actually do anything, though, as he'd finally broken his silence only to surprise her with what he'd said. She blinked, trying to figure out an answer. She hadn't actually thought that part through, and it really did sound kind of weird hearing him say it out loud, but... "I guess so? Does that make me not your sidekick anymore though? Or your friend?," she finally replied. She didn't want to be if that meant the other stuff wasn't true anymore. If it couldn't be true. This was where it would have helped if she'd actually talked to Jeremiah and Isabel, since at least then maybe she'd have those answers. As far as she knew her brother and his wife were still friends too, so maybe it was possible. And at least she still had chocolate, as Patrick had agreed with the idea of continuing on there and it helped her push some of her new worries to the back of her mind. Although she'd glanced down as he'd caught her hand before starting to walk down the street. That felt kind of good. Normal, and she managed a smile as she ran a little bit to catch up to his stride. "We can get some chocolate, right? I kinda don't have any with me right now."
The questions that had been asked made Patrick go quiet again but not in a bad way, he just needed to think about what everything had meant now that Kendall had basically shown him that she felt exactly the same for him that he had for her which meant the frustrations and confusion had dissipated like storm clouds shrouding the sunlight from being seen by those who wanted it. "No, you're still my sidekick and friend too; it's just that now we just have a change in what everything means. I already said that I hadn't wanted to lose you as a friend and I meant it but now that you're my girlfriend; it means that I won't run off and hide anymore. There's no reason for it." he replied, basically wanting her to know what was on his mind immediately; there definitely was no need to hide because if anything was wrong then he'd just go to her and talk about it. It would take some getting used to for that since he was always one to lock himself from the world whenever there was something that was wrong and he hadn't wanted to deal with it but this way it would have just gotten whatever was on his mind away so that he could focus on not only saving the world but coming up with different kinds of chocolate.

Noticing that she hadn't had a problem with the fact that he was holding her hand had made a tiny smile appear on his face, it wasn't like it had felt weird at all; it was just nice. And he knew that he could have gotten away with doing it again without a wonder as to why, it definitely would have gone without saying for anyone who hadn't understood what was going on between the two fourth years. He linked their fingers together as she had asked about what else they were going to get at Honeydukes besides candy which was always good. "Of course we can, I actually didn't bring any chocolate either; it's still all tucked away in my trunk down in the dorm but I can give you some more of it when we get back to the school." For now, other chocolate was going to have to do.
