It was simply frustrating to just not say anything when he hadn't actually had the opportunity to speak with Kendall in a few weeks because he had been too stupid to just hide away without deciding to be brave and talk to her but now there wasn't hiding, not anymore. If something bad was going to happen then he'd stay here and just face it, but there was no way that things were going to go wrong now even if it was all confusing more than anything. As he was about to open his mouth to speak, he noticed her move closer which had caused him to wonder what she was doing before she had kissed him; well that definitely hadn't been what he was expecting. She just kissed me! I mean.. even without hesitating. That's got to mean that she's figured things out... unless it's something else entirely. He tried to think of what exactly to say which seemed to be a challenge since the words weren't coming to him, it was almost like there had been a fog in his mind that shrouded every single thought that bubbled around.
"Wow.. I um.. so does this mean that we're more than just friends.. like um.. that you're my girlfriend?" It was a valid question considering he wanted to make sure that what had just happened hadn't been meaning something else entirely that he had no idea about and once she had actually spoken, he thought about it for a second before just deciding to answer since his thoughts had still been all twisted from before. "Yeah, let's go! The candy awaits." He slipped his hands out of his pockets and reached out to take her hand in his before starting to walk, sure it could have been a bit of a spectacle to see the superhero holding his sidekick's hand but he didn't care; he liked her and that was all that mattered. The silence that had followed her impulsive action only made Kendall start worrying that maybe it was too late. Maybe Patrick really had decided that he'd rather just forget about the feelings he'd told her about at the lake. Maybe he'd actually gotten over them and had decided she was better off as just his friend and maybe sidekick. In any case, it just made her worry, and usually worrying needed chocolate to get over. And of course she didn't have any with her, since she'd been so not normal the past, well, however long it had been since the lake that she hadn't felt like eating chocolate. At least now she wanted that again, so at least that was fixed. Even if she still didn't know what was happening with everything else since Patrick was still annoyingly silent. It was almost enough that she either was going to smack him, kiss him again, or just leave. Any of those ideas were better than just standing there and waiting for him to say something so she'd stop being all worried and stuff, and maybe they could just go get some chocolate finally.
She didn't get the chance to actually do anything, though, as he'd finally broken his silence only to surprise her with what he'd said. She blinked, trying to figure out an answer. She hadn't actually thought that part through, and it really did sound kind of weird hearing him say it out loud, but... "I guess so? Does that make me not your sidekick anymore though? Or your friend?," she finally replied. She didn't want to be if that meant the other stuff wasn't true anymore. If it couldn't be true. This was where it would have helped if she'd actually talked to Jeremiah and Isabel, since at least then maybe she'd have those answers. As far as she knew her brother and his wife were still friends too, so maybe it was possible. And at least she still had chocolate, as Patrick had agreed with the idea of continuing on there and it helped her push some of her new worries to the back of her mind. Although she'd glanced down as he'd caught her hand before starting to walk down the street. That felt kind of good. Normal, and she managed a smile as she ran a little bit to catch up to his stride. "We can get some chocolate, right? I kinda don't have any with me right now."
