Leaving her smile on her face, she continued, "Hi." Okay. A bit short. She was going for short and sweet anyway. Cora laughed internally at that thought. Short and sweet, like me.
Seeing his immediate embarrassment Cora looked down at what Ethan was holding. "My hat! You found it!" Cora's eyes widened happily. "I was just looking for it." She then turned her attention back to what he just said the moment before she noticed what Ethan had in his hand.
"Oh, it's not yours?" she questioned jokingly. "Really? I don't know. I would think it would look great on you." Cora giggled, taking the hat from his hand and standing on tiptoes to place it on his head. "There. Perfect fit." It was anything but, really. Practically resting on his head rather than going around it. Oh, well.
"Oh... it's your hat?" Ethan said with some surprise. Well, wasn't that a coincidence?
"Lucky I was in the right place then," he added, the hint of a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. The fifth year raised his eyebrows in amusement as Cora began to tease him and he suppressed a chuckle. Yeah, he was
sure pink was his color... wait, what was she doing?
Ethan's eyes widened as he watched Cora take the hat from his grasp and reached up to put it on his head. He was sure he looked...
"ridiculous," Ethan murmured as he caught a glimpse of his reflection in the store window and let out a genuine laugh at the sight of the tall teenage boy with the tiny pink hat on his head.
"Actually," he said, as he took the hat off his head.
"I think it suits you better." Ethan placed the hat on the girl's head and gently tugged it down. He looked at the girl appraisingly for a moment, then nodded.
"Just as I thought," he added with a smile.
After a moment's thought, Ethan remembered where he had originally been going.
"So... have you been inside yet?" Ethan gestured to the store they were standing in front of.
"I was just going to get some chocolate frogs. Do you want to go in?"
