"Any reason why you've been smiling non stop today?'' he asked teasingly as the wind blew a tendril of her hair onto her face. He loved the way she had it today. "You look beautiful,'' he told her again.

"Good,'' said Jory. "I'm glad to hear you say that you'll have time for her too, not that I'll take you away from her but I don't want her to hate me or anything.'' The poor boy was hoping Gwen would get used to him and Ari being together as fast as possible. Then there would be less time for her to develop any ill feeling towards him for falling for her best friend. But he was amused at what Ari said next. "That would be fun, wouldn't it? Imagine Gwen getting all lovey.'' It was funny to picture it since Gwen was more of the serious type.

Jory followed Ari towards the back of the tea shop. He was quite glad for the quiet. He just wanted to spend some uninterrupted time with her. Before he took his seat, the boy held out a chair so she could sit first. "First things first,'' he told her, looking around at all the other couples which crowded up the shop. "What would you like to eat and drink?'' Or if she wasn't ready to order as yet, he didn't mind.

When Ari wasn't looking, Jory slipped a long stemmed red rose he had hidden in his pocket and placed it on the table in front of her. At least he hadn't squished it or anything.
He had noticed she couldn't stop smiling, apparently. 'I have my reasons.' she replied, looking sideways, but continuing to grin. This time she almost didn't blush when Jory called her beautiful. Almost. Compliments started to feel natural. They were getting there.

'I just said it as a joke, but it WOULD be entertaining.' Finding Gwen a boyfriend-tremendous fun! 'I'm seriously starting to consider it. Then we could double-date!'. One step at a time, Ari, one step at a time.

He was being such a gentleman! Gallantry wasn't dead, after all. Some boys still held their girlfriends' chairs for them. Luckily, Jory was one of them. 'Thank you.' Ariadne said and sat down, glancing at the menu. 'How about a couple of cream teas?' Yes, it was the most expensive thing on the menu, but it included scones, jam, cream, and most importantly for a Brit, tea. If they bought a cake and a beverage separately, the total amount would probably be higher. Ari was a practical girl.

When she finally looked up from behind the menu, she noticed the exquisite flower in front of her. 'It's beautiful!' she gushed. 'How did you know roses were my favourite flowers?' She was really impressed. This was SO romantic! 'I'm so lucky to call myself your girlfriend.' That she was well aware of.

'I want to know as much as possible about you, so tell me something I don't know yet.' the Gryffindor encouraged Jory, prepared to spill some of her own secrets if asked.
