She hadn't faced this before, and while she'd spoken to Beezus, she hadn't asked the people who she knew would have understood for sure. Namely, Jeremiah and Isabel, who she hadn't felt like writing to just to ask what she should do. That was just weird, and it made her fidget a little as she'd waited for however Patrick would respond to her greeting. She'd blinked as he'd completely acted normal, too. Maybe he really didn't feel the weirdness that was still there between them, because she hadn't known what to do before. Either wawy, it made her thoughts start completely rambling as she just tried to figure out what was going on. What's he really mean by that? That he's glad I decided to come. Did he expect me not to? Is he actually pretending that the weird stuff isn't here, or is he really really glad I'm here like because...
The thoughts had trailed off as he'd continued, however. Starting off with an apology that she almost said wasn't important, but then he'd continued before she could get her voice to work and she just kind of stared at him in surprise. Was this what he felt when I was yelling at him before?, she wondered, before that had turned to wondering if he was saying it had been wrong for him to have hidden before or if it was wrong for her to have hidden now. Everything was just confusing, and then he'd answered her question of if they were forgetting what had happened before. And a whole lot of other stuff that just kept her confused and just altogether not sure what to do to stop it all. Before she just impulsively took a step forward and kissed him. Maybe that would explain the conclusion she'd made in her dorm before she'd gotten the owl. Maybe it would just stop all the uncomfortableness and confusion and just get things back to normal. Whatever normal was now, and as she stepped back she just glanced down the street as if that hadn't happened. "Honeydukes?" Chocolate was necessary, and for once she didn't have any stashed in her bag.
Wait why did I just say that I was glad that she decided to come? Sure I'm happy that I won't have to wander Hogsmeade on my own but.. I don't even know honestly. There wasn't a need to go back and just question what he had said since backtracking would have simply made talking about anything else that much more difficult which Patrick didn't want cause having a conversation now was difficult enough on it's own. It was simply frustrating to just not say anything when he hadn't actually had the opportunity to speak with Kendall in a few weeks because he had been too stupid to just hide away without deciding to be brave and talk to her but now there wasn't hiding, not anymore. If something bad was going to happen then he'd stay here and just face it, but there was no way that things were going to go wrong now even if it was all confusing more than anything. As he was about to open his mouth to speak, he noticed her move closer which had caused him to wonder what she was doing before she had kissed him; well that definitely hadn't been what he was expecting.
She just kissed me! I mean.. even without hesitating. That's got to mean that she's figured things out... unless it's something else entirely. He tried to think of what exactly to say which seemed to be a challenge since the words weren't coming to him, it was almost like there had been a fog in his mind that shrouded every single thought that bubbled around.
"Wow.. I um.. so does this mean that we're more than just friends.. like um.. that you're my girlfriend?" It was a valid question considering he wanted to make sure that what had just happened hadn't been meaning something else entirely that he had no idea about and once she had actually spoken, he thought about it for a second before just deciding to answer since his thoughts had still been all twisted from before. "Yeah, let's go! The candy awaits." He slipped his hands out of his pockets and reached out to take her hand in his before starting to walk, sure it could have been a bit of a spectacle to see the superhero holding his sidekick's hand but he didn't care; he liked her and that was all that mattered.
