Dash said objecting, not only because he could, but because Althea was wrong. She was wrong, and had to know she was wrong. Why? Because that meant he was right. "The train never was, or has never been a necessity in transporting students. Hogwarts never needed a train, the Ministry simply wanted Hogwarts to have it, and so they did." He shrugged. "The school functioned eight hundred plus years without said train taking them to and from school. So basically-no, you don't have to work that hard."

And while they were on this discussion. "Also, no again Thea. Of course I don't know my history about the statute. I don't know my history of anything for that matter." He leaned forward, closing the distance between. "What do you take me for a History of Magic professor?" Preposterous thought.

He didn't expect it, but it did often happen at random times. Her hand reached forward and thumb grazed across his scar. A certain spot on his arm suddenly began to give off a prickly sensation. Taking Althea's hand in his, a thin smile appeared on his lips."Whenever you do that I always get the subliminal message that you are secretly enjoy moments that i've been in pain.
Althea shifted her chair closer to his, eyes glued to his face. "Actually," She began in much the same tone she had often employed in their school days, when she was about to Ravenclaw him obnoxiously, "You are mistakenly counting those years before the statute. Thusly, only the last --oh, off the top of my head-- three-hundred and eighty-six years of student transportation ought to be considered," NOT eight hundred plus, "And the train solution, as suggested by Ottaline Gambol --who I'm quite sure you recall was the Minister of Magic in the late 1930s-- was the best and most successful way to ensure all students could safely get to Hogwarts and away again, without compromising the safety of Hogwarts itself, and without attracting Muggle attention, and thereby keeping the Statute intact." Her smile was pure Ravenclaw smarm.

"Additionally, we can't resort to using portkeys for the Christmas and Easter holidays. Really, its a wonder that no students were lost during that little exodus." Really, it was a good example of Recard not really thinking things through. He very much needed Althea's guidance. Very much. "Right now, its looking like the train won't be fixed by December." Althea would NOT be pleased if the entire student body were forced to stay at Hogwarts, and therefore the staff also, and therefore Dash, and therefore her Christmas plans would be interrupted. Well. If that was the case, then she would be invading the castle. With Kyroh, of course. "So actually, its very important." More important, than say, his work? Yes. Clearly. She didn't say that though, since she herself had been a professor for much of her working life, and he would be sure to point that out.

She smiled at him. "What a shame. I happen to prefer well-read, well-informed, Historical-minded men. A History of Magic professor surely fits that bill." As did a published author. Lucky her on both counts then, hmm?

She wouldn't say that lucky part out loud either.

Althea tipped her head to one side and when he grabbed her hand, she responded by stroking the palm of his hand gently with her thumb."Hmmm. Not pain." She answered lightly. "I secretly enjoy moments where you're human." Well. Those were the moments when he was most hers.
